Waking up came easy that night.

It was only 3 A.M and Emma found that she couldn't go back to sleep. The shadows of her room seemed to nave around, but Every time her eyes focused on them, they dissipated.

Laying in bed, her hand lazily felt the night stand before her, searching for the lamp switch.

Once she got the light, the room glowed a gentle golden colour. She got up and got one of her books from the shelf. She was going to pick out one of the carefully decorated books until she remembered something.

It felt like only yesterday she was running down the halls to escape Mr.Draco, but it had almost been a month and the book they stole still hadn't been opened.

Sliding David's black book bag out from under her bed, she unhooked the golden clip and once again took out the black and red book inside.

The veins of the book seemed to have grown since the last time she saw them, and a red jewel had grown right in the center. Frowning, Emma tried to open the book, only to have a small gold lock stop her.

Fiddling with the lock, it had no let hole so the confusing lock had to be magically activated. But the question was, who's?

Emma's mind immediately thought to headmaster, he was the one in charge of these books, and it only made sense that he put the lock there.

Frowning, she put the book on her chest and say on the edge of her bed, thinking of a way to get headmasters magic to open the lock.

Hiding the book under her pillow, she grabbed another book from her shelf labled myths and prophecies.

Opening the book to a random page, she read the first few myths about dragons, and other mytical creatures.

'Dragons are the beginning, and the end of the world? What's that supposed to mean?' She thought.

Turning the page, the language was a diffrent language but seemed awfully familiar. The seemingly random curves of the strange language changed and morphed to english, making it readable.

But the thing was.

They all said the same thing.

One must be sacrificed. One must be sacrificed. One must be sacrificed. One must be sacrificed. One must be sacrificed. One must be sacrificed.

For the greater good

The words flashed back to there original form, and Emma sat there, stunned. Never before had the book ever said anything like that, so why now?

And why must someone die?

So many questions swirled in her head that it hurt. She put her fingers on her temples but it did nothing.

She tried taking a got shower, but all that did was make her body relax. But her head was gradually increasing in pain, so much so, she screamed into her pillow to try and help.

All that accomplished was waking up Ashley.

And boy did she look nuts without makeup.

"What are you screaming about at three in the morning?" She asked. Her voice was soft, and it shocked the brunette. She never knew Ashley could be this gentle.
