The girl was panicking, trying to figure out how to stop this mass killing that was happening in front of her. Reborns were scampering around the townslfolk and ending their lives in seconds. She hugged the book to her body, knowing that is she let it go now, her whole trip would be for nothing.

A large sliver dragon had caught her eye; and when she saw the boy climb in the dragon, she immediately noticed the reborn making a mad dash to the pair. Watching the dragon make it ten feet off the ground, Emma cheered for the thought that they had made it away safely, but the reborn was more than capable of jumping that high, it's stretched limbs clawing into the dragons tail.

"Joel, that rider, he can still be saved." Emma said while pleading the rub red dragon she say upon.

"As you wish Emma." Joel said into the link. His body tilted forward to propell him towards the reborn that was clawing its way up the dragon. The boy on the silver dragons back had shouted out some strange words before going back to trembling at the base of his dragons neck.

Joel's talons had perfectly sliced into the reborns body, severing the head from the body as he threw the monster off the other dragon. The boy on said dragon look up to Emma, white eyes flinching at the sight of her cold glare.

"Let get going to the academy now! It's the last safe place remaining!" Emma called out to him. She looked around to see townsfolk of all kinds climbing on larger dragons, heart breaking at the sight of the dragons and people randomly being killed. Joel had suddenly jerked upwards in the sky to avoid a reborn jumping up to him, blasting a powerful line of fire towards the cluster of reborns. The skin on the creature melted as it let out a pained cry, and the ear-piercing sound called on more of it's kind to attack the dragon.

"Joel lets get the hell out of here!" Emma shouted to him. The dragon didn't need to be told twice as he flew up higher in the sky, the air growing warmer as the fire licked the now thickly clouded sky. Joel's powerful wings stired up the fire beneath him, encouraging the flames to grow as it are the flesh of the reborn, the smell of burning and bubbling flesh filling Emma's nose.

The redhead behind her was gathering up a beam of light in his palms, aiming it at the line of gathering reborns. With a flash of his eyes, the light left his palm and towards the reborns, just barely touching the reborns as they scramble to stop their fast pace. With a newfound plan, Emma patted Joel's scales, linking her mind up with his once again. After a few seconds of exerting his magic, the boy with red hair cut off his attack, collapsing in exaustion on his dragons back.

"Try making a wall of fire right in front of them, if we can stall them from going any further, then we might gather enough time for the others." Emma said into the link. The girl gathered the book in her arms, raising it into the air and waving it around.

"Hey reborns! Want this?" Emma shouted over the sound of the calamity. The reborn's heads perked up, lips curling back into a snarl as their eyes glew with fury. The reborns didn't waste any time, long limbs stretching over the land in a few seconds. Joel's neck grew larger as he began storing his breath, prepared to shoot when they got just close enough.

Joel opened his mouth wide, fire spewing out of his mouth in a magnificent dance. The fire touched the ground and spread in a straight line to stop the reborns. Their eyes widened in fear as a few were to late to stop themselves, the flames licking their skin greedly as they bubbled and burst their skin. The wall of fire grew tall, the magic from the attack pouring off the flames and into the sky, where it faded into the air.

Emma smiled as she saw the wall of fire spread across the town from wall to wall, the reborns completely bound to the one side of the city. Joel let the last of his fire fall out of his body before sluggishly closing his mouth, exhaustion lacing in the dragon.

"Emma, it seems I can't take things a step further, I'm sorry for this." Joel spoke though the link weakly, letting his body slowly drop down to she ground for rest. Other fire dragons flew to Joel, looking at the large wall of fire he had created. The cityfolk were cautious in approaching, scared the reborns were going to leap over the flames at any given moment.

Clutching the book, Emma slid off the dragons back, leaning her head on his warm scales. Fire dragons were pouring their own flames into the wall, a mix of colour thrown into the flames. Emma grinned, mumbling a thank you before relaxing on Joel.

"Emma! That was amazing!" The light mage from earlier shouted, his silver dragon following closely behind. The girl raised an eyebrow, her grip around the book tightening when he approached. The boy seemed to pick up on this, and he raised his hands in defense, stress painted on his face.

"What do you want light mage? You got your green jewel and I have my book, I think you don't need to talk to me anymore, correct?" Emma said coldly, closing her eyes so she didn't have to speak to him.

Maybe he'll just walk away....

"You can call me Matt instead of light mage ya'know, just asking for my name isn't that hard." He said with a grin. The girl huffed, feeling some energy pour back into Joel from another generous dragon. The red dragon began to shake himself off, his scales twinkling together as he did so.

Emma could feel the flames of the makeshift wall burn, but she knew it wouldn't stand for long.
