The sound of a large snake moving across the floor was the only thing Emma was focused on.
Was this a trap? Was Bailey here to kill any weak competitors? Emma tried talking to the dragons outside, but without a direct bond to them, communicating with them was not an option.
"David," Emma whispered. She reached her hand out to him slowly, trying to make sure he was still there. Her hand landed on something cold, hard and scaly.
She looked up, and bright brown, glowing eyes shone in the darkness. The brunette let out a silent prayer to the player of fates before trying to talk to it. The creature wasn't that big, almost as tall as her standing up, an unusual approach for a preditor for ready use of disposing humans.
"Hey there little one." She began. The creature gave no response, but it's eyes remained locked in Emma.
"Emma, what are you doing?" David asked, his voice just barley a whisper. Emma just shook her head, letting her hand extend our to the creature.
"Its gonna be ok, trust me." Emma tried to put as much love and positive emotion into her words, watching as the glowing eyed creature approach her hand.
Emma's hand came in contact with the cold and scaly texture of a dragons body, and small legs were pressing against the girls body, but she stayed firm under its weight. She began to caress the dragons scales, feeling the very faint purring inside it's body.
The light flicked on, and Emma's eyes widened as the sudden bright light was turned on, temporarily blinding her. A large hiss came from the creature she was petting and frantic noises of feet against sand was all that was heard.
When Emma did manage to Get her eyes open, Bailey was sitting on a neck of a long creature, putting a black blindfold over its eyes. Once he got off of whatever it was, it stood at full length.
It was a dragon, but nothing like Emma had ever seen.
It's long body was like a sea serpents, but it's scales were multiple colours of splashed brown on its body. It's legs were many in numbers, almost like a caterpillars. It's wings were folded along it's flexible body, ready to be used. It's head was smooth, and two long appendages flowed out of its head, growing thin on the ends then sparking in some fluff.
It's brown eyes were now covered, and the dragon stood up, easily towering over the three people.
"Bailey what the fuck!?" David yelled. The long Dragon screamed, Ita head darting right where David was. Thankfully, David doged the attack and moved to the side, the dragons face burrowing in the sand.
The thought of just the dragons head staying in the sand was preposterous, but then the dragons body wriggled a bit. The sand basically absorbed the dragon, like a human to a spaghetti noodle, the dragons whole body dug into the sand. David shot a glare at Bailey as he left out a laugh.
"Now that she's gone, I ca-" Bailey was cut off with a punch in the face. He tumbled to the ground as David stood above him, furious.
"You could have killed Emma you asshole!" He screamed. A small rumble in the sand made him quiet down, very quickly. Bailey looked at David with annoyance, picking himself up and brushing the sand off of him.
"It was just a joke my friend, besides she handled the situation very well." Bailey walked over to Emma and have her a hand, helping her up too. David couldn't believe to nerve of the guy.
"A joke? What kind of dragon even is that?" David was talking in a normal tone now, trying not to make the strange new dragon come back out from its hiding place. Bailey was still getting sand out of his hair, trying to take the small stones out.
"I don't know what type of dragon I have, I didn't really care for what she looked like anyways. But I'm glad you guys got to meet her, even if it did seem like I tried to murder you."
"Thanks for letting us see Elmyra though, she looked like a very agile dragon." Emma praised. David just stared blankly at the two as Bailey waled closer to Emma.
"Well I'm glad at least one person can notice how important dragons are. You are truly special Emma." Bailey flashed his theeth in a grin, silently snapping his fingers.
Elmyra came back up from the ground, her blindfold still on her eyes. The dragon used her scent to pick up the three people's position, growling at David's presence.
The snake-like dragon happily wormed it's way to Emma and Bailey, cuddling in their warm embrace. It's forked tounge darting in and out of its mouth. It purred with delight as Emma tried to push down on certain places of its body, relaxing the large reptile.
"Hey, I know you're having a good time over there with Mr.Slithers, but we have to find our rooms still, so if you wouldn't mind." David, who was impatiently tapping his foot, looked just about ready to leave. The dragon dug back into the ground, thankful for Emma's massage. The three teenagers walked out of Elmyra's stable, making sure to tightly close the door.
Making their way through the marble hallways, Emma, David, And Bailey all began the white walls were beginning to turn blue.
"We're getting closer to your hallway, Emma will probably be staying in the elites hall." Bailey explained. David gave the other male a weird look, trust issues written all over David.
"And where is that hall then?" Emma asked politely. Bailey pointed up, where the floor above them was clear glass. David jumped back, surprised that he didn't notice this before.
One of the elites was walking above them, taking their time to look down and wave.
"Magic proof glass, it's expensive but I don't think the northern academy had a problem finding it, since they have the spirit gems. But that's where you'll be staying Emma, with the elites."
The brunette nodded, but she couldn't ignore the very painful headache in her head.
