You held Bucky's hand as he drove you to an unknown destination. He wanted to surprise you, so he didn't tell you where you were going despite how much you asked. Until you got where he was taking you, you mainly looked at the passing scenery.

"Doll you want to put on some Christmas music?"

"I'd love to." You Bluetoothed your phone to his truck and put on the music. Then you held his hand again.

"Bucky, I can't believe this is our first Christmas together."

"We've had plenty of Christmases together."

"I meant as a married couple silly." You giggled.

"I know Darlin' I was just teasing." Bucky looked to you with a grin plastered on his face. He raised your hand and placed a kiss there before continuing to drive.

"I figured you were."

You both sang Christmas songs after that. When Bucky made it to the next stop sign, he looked back to you.

"We're almost there. Can you close your eyes?"

You smiled and closed your eyes. After some time, you felt the car stop. You giggled when Bucky carried you out bridal style. He put you down shortly after, and he took hold of your hand.

"You can open your eyes now."

You opened by your eyes then gasped. You returned your gaze to your husband.

"Surprise y/n. I know you've always gotten fake trees, but I thought we could have a real tree in our new house. We don't have to if you don't want. We could do a real tree then a fake tree. It really doesn't matter. I just love spending time and making new memories with you."  He squeezed your hand.

You kissed him sweetly and rubbed his cheek. "I love it Bucky, and I love you. You're just gonna have to tell me everything you know, cause I obviously know nothing about getting a real tree." You giggled as you both began to walk around.

"You know, this is the first time in a long time, I will have had a tree in my house." Bucky looked to you. "Even before I went off to war, I hadn't had one since I was nine. Dad always took us out to the country, and we'd all pick one out. He'd normally choose the ones Rebecca picked out. It wasn't the same when he died. Ma just didn't have the time to take us out since she was doing everything she could to support us. Then I left, and well you know the rest." He looked down for a moment before looking to you, "I'm just glad to have you. I was hoping that this could be apart our traditions too."

"I'd like that." Then you're eyes landed on a tree that wasn't too extravagantly large, and it wasn't small either. It was just right.

Bucky also seemed to gravitate toward the same tree. "I think we've found the one Darlin'."

You nodded as you both walked to the tree. It had already been cut, so Bucky picked it up and went back to the main area so the people could wrap it. Once that was done, Bucky paid for the tree and put it in the bed of the truck.

You both got in, and you held Bucky's hand once more. He looked to you as he started up the truck. "You're going to love the real tree. It's going to make the whole house smell like Christmas."

"I'm actually really excited. I get to have my first real tree with you in our new home. I can't wait to hang all our geeky ornaments." You leaned over quickly kissing his cheek.

You made it back to your country side home and held the door open for Bucky. He set up the tree while you brought out the decorations. You also put on more music.

"Oh Bucky, it's wonderful."

"Well of course it is. We picked it out." He walked over to you wrapping his arms around your waist, and you wrapped yours around his shoulders.

You both began to dance in time with the music, and you laid your head on Bucky's chest. After some time, Bucky kissed your head and pulled away.

"Well, you ready to geek out our Christmas tree Mrs Barnes?"

"Of course I am Mr Barnes, and let me tell you, I'm loving taking your last name."

"Me too doll, me too."
