Bucky was tending his little garden and feeding his goats. He had been woken up after those words had been taken out of his mind, but Shuri and the other scientists were still working on his arm.

He was relieved he wouldn't have to worry about losing himself to Winter again, and his mind was his own. For the most part, his life had become somewhat normal. He had a routine, and he felt safe. He didn't worry about the government trying to come find him.

Today was no different. Bucky woke up and made himself breakfast. He got dressed and went outside to be greeted by the children. Then, he went to work tending his little garden. He even had one small space to try and grow a plum tree.

Everything was normal until a disturbance appeared in the sky. A beam of light in various blues, oranges, and yellows appeared from far away and hit the ground not to far from his little home. As soon as the light appeared, it was just as quick to disappear. Being curious, Bucky ran to the area to find strange markings on the ground and a woman in strange clothing.

She was laying on the markings, and Bucky just found himself gazing at her. She opened her eyes, and for a moment, her eyes met his own. Then, her eyes widened.

She slowly got up and looked around. "This is Earth isn't it?"

"Yes. Who are you?"

She looked back to him and curtsied. "I'm y/n of Asgard, cousin to Thor and Loki."

Bucky didn't understand, and he thought he might be dreaming. "I'm Bucky Barnes uh of Brooklyn, New York."

She walked to him and shook his hand. "It's an honor to meet you Bucky. I..."

Bucky thought he saw her eye color change, but it was only for a split second. He noticed her frown, and she walked back to the strange markings.

"Heimdall, bring me back." She paced the markings before looking back up. "Heimdall, take me back to Asgard."

He watched her continue to pace and call out for whoever Heimdall was. Then, in frustration, y/n sat down on the ground.

"I don't understand. He told me he'd bring me back."

Bucky walked to her and looked at her before he stretched out his hand. When she noticed, she smiled and placed her hand in his own. He helped her up.

"Bucky who's this?"

He turned to see Shuri and T'challa.

"I'm y/n. This is my first time on Earth. I came from Asgard to find my cousin Thor, but he is no longer here. I was going to tell him of some family business. Now, it seems I can't get back home."

She looked at all their outfits, and they were shocked to see her transform her outfit to look modern.

"Well, y/n I'm T'challa and this is Shuri. You are in Wakanda."

"It's nice to meet you your majesty. I know this is rather odd. I do apologize."

He walked to her and held her hand. "It's quiet alright. You are more than welcome to stay in my kingdom. Perhaps Bucky can show you around."

Y/n turned to Bucky and smiled. "If Bucky is willing to show me around, I'd really like that."

Bucky nodded and after some more exchanging of conversation, he watched T'challa and Shuri walk away. He hadn't left the village in a while, but he's supposed it would be nice to go to the areas that were more urban.

"If you want, we can just sit by that lake. I still feel a bit dizzy from using the bifrost."

Bucky looked to her and nodded. They both walked to the lake and sat down. He began to think, and something came across his mind.

"How did you know T'challa was king."

She looked to him and slightly smiled. "I have mental abilities. My cousin Loki and I share the same abilities, and I also have elemental abilities. I refuse to read people's minds, but sometimes thing's slip through my mind." She looked down, and he thought she blushed. "One of the things that slipped through was James. I like that name, but I realize you don't use that anymore. I'm sorry."

She looked back up and Bucky tried to smile. "It's okay. It's just been a long time since I've been called that, and I don't feel like I'm that guy anymore."

She looked up with a tear in her eye. "I'm terribly sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up. I don't know what you have been through, but I can see the strength in you."

He whispered thank you, and they both sat there quietly.

"Y/n, can I ask you about Asgard?"

She looked to him and smiled. "It's lovely and different. I've stayed in the palace my whole life. Well, I stayed in the palace areas my whole life."

"Why?"

"Well, my mother is sisters with Thor and Loki's mother. My father passed when I was young, so my aunt took my mother and me in."

She lied down and dipped her hands in the water. She closed her eyes, and Bucky was scared he might've upset her.

"Loki and Thor became like brothers to me. They were very overprotective, but they still taught me things. Loki insisted that my aunt teach me everything he was learning. That's why I have a lot of the abilities I do today."

She sat back up and looked to Bucky. "Later when I discovered I had powers, Loki helped me control them as well."

"You seem to have a strong relationship with them. What happened? I heard about New York."

He noticed her face twitch, and he thought he felt the ground move.

"I.. Loki has been through a lot. Before New York, Loki had found out something he should've known when he was young. It, as well as other things set him off. He fell into the hands of..." She couldn't get herself to tell Bucky the name. "Loki was tortured and mind controlled before and during New York."

He saw tears fall from her face, and he regretted asking.

"I wasn't able to help him because I wasn't allowed to leave. When he was still home, he didn't want to see me or anyone. I've felt horrible about it ever since. He was always there for me, and I couldn't be there for him."

She began to cry, and rain started to pour from the sky. Bucky scooted to her and hugged her as best as he could. After a few moments, she wrapped her arms around his waist and the rain stopped.

"Thank you." She pulled away and wiped her face. "It's just that Loki Thor are the only family I have left. I'm not going to let anything happen to them. If I ever find the one who hurt Loki... Nevermind."

Bucky didn't want to push her any farther. "Would you like for me to show you the city?"

She shook her head and looked to her hands. "No. I want to stay here by the lake."

She turned to him, and he couldn't help but fondly ogle at her. She was so very kind to him and treated him like a proper human being.

"I'm sorry I made you listen to all of that, but I'm so glad you listened. It means a lot to me."

"You're welcome Doll." He smirked and couldn't believe he called her that, but he didn't regret it.

She got up and placed her feet in the water. Her hair flowed through the wind and the water began to rise from the surface.  It flowed over his head and he could see all the fish in the water. Then, flowers began to bloom near where he stood. The wind blew through his hair and he felt a happiness he hadn't felt in a long time.

The water went back into the lake, and y/n turned around to face him.

"Was that all you?"

She smiled and whispered yes. Without thinking, he ran to her and hugged her. He kissed the top of her head, and she once again returned the hug.

Bucky knew she could take care of herself, but he was already growing protective of her. He was even being to grow feelings for her. He saw his future with her and his present growing brighter.

Thank you for reading Bucky's plums. I hope y'all are staying safe.
