Chapter LXXVI

《On the Black Pearl》
Pike, seeing the black owl returning, ran towards it to ask Johari what had happened on the Ranger.

When Johari returned to his human form, Pike and the other pirates were relieved after having been worried about the late arrival of one of the few women aboard the Black Pearl.

Pike: (Running to Johari's side) Johari!Are you ok?
Johari: Aye. Everything's fine.
Scrum: Why the delay?
Johari: I spent more time talking to Gentleman Jocard than I thought I would.
Gibbs: We're glad you're back. Jack thought something had happened to you or that you had been tied up.
Johari: But that didn't happen. I'm fine.
Gibbs: Jack was about to give us the order to attack.
Jack: (Gets out of the cellar with a bottle of rum) I'm glad you're back! Everything's okay?
Johari: Everything's okay Jack.
Jack: Did you manage to prevent a battle? Have you managed to settle any outstanding debts?
Johari: Actually, Gentleman Jocard wasn't interested in fighting right now.
Jack: So it's Gentleman Jocard now. I see you weren't able to settle any debt.
Johari: That man has changed a lot.
Jack: (Giving the order) Everyone back to your places! Resume the course towards Port Royal! (To Johari) Not you. You're going to tell me what happened with every detail.

Jack offered Johari a canteen of rum and she accepted it without thinking twice and took a big gulp. Jack then asked the African descendant to accompany him to the cellar to get more rum and also to tell him what had happened on the Ranger.

Johari: (After taking a sip of rum from the canteen) Gentleman Jocard told me that he was truly sorry to have abandoned me on those plantations.
Jack: (Takes a sip of rum directly from one of the bottles) And you believed him?
Johari: I really don't know what to believe. But he told me that he could compensate me for the damage he did to me.
Jack: Really? How?
Johari: He offered me an important place on his ship.
Jack: (Shows concern on his face) And what did you tell him?
Johari: Well... I told him the truth. (Takes another sip of rum) That I wanted to sail with my family.
Jack: So with your family. We've talked about this before, Johari. You have to help me get the Heart of Fire and then I'll give you the freedom to sail on whatever ship you want. (Grabbing the handle of his sword) But I want you to be clear that if you do not follow the orders of your current captain, who's me, I will not hesitate to take you to the ship's prison. Savvy?
Johari: (Tries to calm Jack down) Jack, I...
Jack: (Interrupts her) There is no excuse that will make me change my mind!
Johari: Jack...
Jack: I already said no!
Johari: (Raising her voice volume) Maybe if you gave me half a minute to talk, or maybe less, you might understand!
Jack: I have nothing to understand! You're not going back with...
Johari: (Interrupts explaining with a scream) The captain of the Ranger is not my family!
Jack: (Confused and calmer) What you say?
Johari: What you heard. Gentleman Jocard and the crew of the Ranger are not my family.
Jack: But you said you wanted to sail with your family.
Johari: That's right.
Jack: But if you're sayin that the crew of the Ranger is not your family, then who do you wanna sail with?
Johari: With you, Jack. My family is the crew of the Black Pearl and the Lotus Flower.
Jack: (Calmer and trying to hide his smile) Why us? Why not them but we?
Johari: Because family is the one that supports and teaches you. Not the one who abandons you.
Jack: Then you're staying with us on the Black Pearl?
Johari: Until we bring Ruby back. Then I'll go back to the Lotus Flower.
Jack: But what if we don't...?
Johari: If we're not able to do it I'll stay on the Black Pearl.
Jack: Thank you very much for... saying I'm your family.
Johari: A thankful pirate. What a nice gesture.
Jack: Johari, go back to your place. I don't wanna get sentimental right now and I don't want to waste any more time. We have to find soon the Heart of Fire.
Johari: Aye aye captain.

Johari filled her canteen with more rum and then climbed up to the crow's nest. Jack took another long drink from a bottle of rum and then climbed up with two more bottles in hand to head to the helm of his beloved Black Pearl.

《On the crow's nest》
Pike: I've heard you wanna sail with your family?
Johari: And that's what I'm doing.
Pike: But we're on the Black Pearl.
Johari: That's right.
Pike: (Confused) But you...
Johari: Pike, you don't have to think about it too much to understand it.
Pike: So you're going to sail under the command of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Johari: Until Captain Ruby Evans is back sailing through the seven seas. When that happens, I'm going back to the Lotus Flower. A ship of which, by the way, I am currently the captain. (Shows him the Lotus Flower Ring)
Pike: Are you really so sure we'll be able to get the Heart of Fire back and then bring Evans back to life?
Johari: We lose nothing by at least trying to.
Pike: You are clear that if the Heart of Fire continues to beat and pump fire, 'cause you where the one who said that when you went down to the Hell of the Caribbean with Sparrow you didn't see Evans, it's not going to be that easy and you're still going to need the power of the Goddess Liana? Who claims she came back to life?
Johari: If Flama, the Goddess of Death, could come back to life; why with the Goddess Liana, who is the Goddess of Life, would it be different?
Pike: I am still surprised by your positivity, your faith, your hope.
Johari: I like to try as much as I can until I realize that there really is no solution.
Pike: Before you arrived at the Black Pearl, there was not so much positivity on board.
Johari: I deliver what I feel is necessary at each moment.
Pike: (Grabs the canteen hanging around his neck) Cheers to that then.
Johari: (Grabs her canteen while smiling) Cheers.
Pike: To the Black Pearl and the Lotus Flower. (Takes a sip of rum)
Johari: To the Heart of Fire and the Gods of the Caribbean. (Takes a sip of rum)
