《Way to where Brooke was》
Marina: How do you plan to make Brooke feel better?
Ruby: You're gonna see it when we're with her.
Marina: (Sighs) Okay.
Ruby: And... how are your sisters? How's been Syrena?
Marina: Pretty well! Very happy!
Ruby: The last time I saw you she was very close to that Christian missionary.
Marina: Philip Swift.
Ruby: That's it! Are they still together?
Marina: They are!
Ruby: And how do they do it? A human... a mermaid... I imagine it's not a very common relationship.
Marina: They've actually been pretty natural. Sometimes Syrena goes up to the surface using her legs, and sometimes it's Philip who comes down into the water.
Ruby: How do they make a human last so long underwater?
Marina: The same way you're doing it right now. Syrena gave him a Sea Braid.
Ruby: Smart of them. And how's that man been?
Marina: As happy as Syrena. And in case you're wondering, no, he hasn't left Christianity. His hair may be longer and messier, but he always carries his rosary and his bible, and well, the braid.
Ruby: I imagine that has caused the war between mermaids and humans to subside a bit?
Marina: That's right. (•••) And what about Jack? How have you two been doing together?
Ruby: It's... a bit complicated, actually.
Marina: Why that?! Did he do something to you?
Ruby: No! Of course not! He's always been very good to me. The problem is me. I feel... like the spark has been fading lately.
Marina: Ouch.
Ruby: A lot of things have happened over the past three years that have made me rethink how I feel about Jack.
Marina: Are you gonna tell me what has happened during these years without seeing each other?
Ruby: When we're with Brooke. She's also going y be interested in what has happened.

Marina and Ruby continued to swim calmly in search of Brooke, when Syrena soon approached, accompanied by Philip, to ask Marina a question.

Syrena began to ask her sister the question but when she saw Ruby, she was surprised and couldn't continue with the question normally.

Syrena: (Approaching Marina) Marina! Marina! (In front of Marina) Do you know where the...?

Syrena was asking the question but when she saw Ruby, in surprise, she couldn't continue.

Syrena: (Seeing Ruby) Flame!
Ruby: (Generates a flame of fire in her hand) The one and only.
Syrena: I haven't seen you in years!
Marina: (To the couple) We were just talking about you.
Philip: About us?
Marina: Aha.
Syrena: (To Ruby) What are you doing here?!
Ruby: I need to talk a couple of things with Brooke.
Syrena: With Brooke?
Marina: I've also got surprised when she told me she knew her.
Ruby: I've known her since before I met all of you.
Marina: (To Syrena) Flame says she knows how to cheer Brooke up again.
Ruby: (Nods)
Syrena: We were thinking about going to Heart Hot Springs.
Ruby: Heart Hot Springs? What's that place?
Syrena: It is a truly wonderful place.
Marina: A heart-shaped island, with a large hot spring lake in the center, also heart-shaped.
Syrena: There are also many waterfalls of different sizes with their own thermal waters.
Philip: (To Ruby) I think you would really enjoy that place. It's the perfect combination between water and fire.
Ruby: Fire?!
Philip: There is no literal fire but all the waters are of high temperatures.
Syrena: Thermal waters.
Marina: What were you going to ask me, Syrena?
Syrena: I... I forgot.
Marina: If you forgot it then it must not have been such a big deal.
Syrena: (To Ruby) And what do you have to talk to Brooke about?
Ruby: They're... lots of things actually. Among them, I'm going to tell her what happened to me during these last three years.Years that made me realize I had to talk to Brooke again.
Syrena: Why don't we go with you to find Brooke, then the five of us go to Heart Hot Springs, and then you can tell us all?
Marina: It could be a good idea. But only if Flame agrees to let you two go along.
Ruby: I like the idea. But I don't have too much time. I have to get back to my ship before three days are up.
Philip: There's more than enough time. Even two days would be enough for us.
Marina: (To Ruby) Let's go find Brooke and cheer her up like you said you would. Or else she won't be coming up to the surface with us. Then we'll all go to the hot springs and catch up after all these years of not seeing each other.
Ruby: Okay. Let's go.

《On the way to Brooke's hideout》
Now there were four of them swimming to find Brooke. While Syrena talked to Marina, trying to remember the question she wanted to ask her, Philip swam alongside Ruby to ask her about Jack.

Philip: Last time we met, you told me a little about your relationship with Captain Jack Sparrow.
Ruby: I do remember.
Philip: And... are you still together?

Ruby looked away for a few seconds before answering the missionary's question.

Ruby: Aye. We're still together.
Philip: You don't seem entirely convinced or comfortable.
Ruby: You're right. I'm not entirely... comfortable talking about him. But you're gonna understand the reason when I tell you all.
Philip: You don't feel the same anymore, do you?
Ruby: (Surprised) You're the first one who doesn't ask me if Jack did something to me.
Philip: I do believe in love. And the few times I saw Sparrow I noticed how in love he was with you. Someone who is really in love wouldn't hurt the one they love.
Ruby: I have to recognize that Jack made me feel really happy. He saved me from suffering and helped me discover who I was and who I wanted to be and do.
Philip: May I know what suffering he saved you from? Of course, if you don't feel uncomfortable with it.
Ruby: It hurts me to remember it but I have no problem telling it.
Philip: How was your life before meeting Sparrow?
Ruby: Horrible. There was not a day when I wasn't beaten by my mother.
Philip: (Surprised) Why is that?!
Ruby: Recently, after years without seeing each other, she confessed that she was not at all happy about having given life to the Goddess of Death. And she also did not want to be recognized as the mother who murdered her own daughter.
Philip: Were her blows very strong?
Ruby: Have you seen my back?
Philip: (Surprised) She was the cause of all those scars of yours?!
Ruby: Ironic that the marks that characterize Pirate Captain Ruby Evans were obtained before entering the world of piracy, isn't it?
Philip: I'm so sorry.
Ruby: Do not apologize for something you're not guilty of.

After swimming for a while, they came to a colorful underwater cave next to a reef.

Seeing the place, Ruby was reminded of when she swam underwater for the first time thanks to a kiss Brooke had given her that gave her the ability to breathe underwater, before she obtained the Sea Braid.
