Jeongguk straightened, a growl rumbling through his throat as he leapt to his feet. Yoongi snatched at his wrist, shaking his head firmly with his lips pressed together, eyes wide with slight panic.
Jeongguk stopped growling, a barest hint of sage and ink seeping through the cracks through the door.
"What day is it?" Yoongi whispered, eyes flickering towards the door as the knocking came again, louder than before.
Jeongguk whined in his throat. Days was never something he had spent time trying to keep track of, but basing on the tightened grip of his hand, Yoongi was worried.
"Jeongguk-ah, I need you to go into your wolf form. Hide in the back- in the forest." Yoongi licked his lips, eyes darting over the slight mess of the living room. He flinched. "It's Namjoon. It's Saturday."
Namjoon? The voice over what Yoongi called a phone.
Unease filtered through Jeongguk's entire frame. The idea of leaving Yoongi with an unknown being set his entire instincts on edge, jaw clenching as another rumble echoed through his throat.
"Hyung? Yoongi hyung!" Namjoon called, voice slightly muffled by the door.
Yoongi hissed through his teeth, a desperation falling over his pretty features, twisting them.
"Jeongguk-ah, please. Namjoon can't see you, do you understand?"
"Yoongi," Jeongguk rasped back, shifting his weight. The Omega in him wanted to obey, to follow Yoongi's orders as he would an Alpha, but he fought it. Something in him didn't want to separate from him, leaving him alone. "Yoongi, I- I don't know."
Yoongi meant protection. He protected Jeongguk, just as he protected Yoongi.
"Darling," Yoongi rasped, reaching over and cupping his cheek with a trembling hand. "He can't know about you. About Lycan's, okay? Please, darling. Go hide in the woods. You'll be safe."
"What about you?" Jeongguk whispered back fervently.
Yoongi blinked, confused, but then smiled warmly. "Namjoon won't hurt me, darling. He is- he is my Taehyung. Okay?"
Jeongguk hesitated once more, needing to understand, to know that he will not be harmed. He licked his lips, the cooling touch of Yoongi's hand on his cheek never falling away.
"Namjoon is... pack?"
Yoongi's smile broadened. "Yes. Yes, that's it. Namjoon is pack. My pack."
"Okay..." Jeongguk agreed. Yoongi smiled quickly, turning to head for the door.
Namjoon was still shouting, Yoongi's phone now blaring on the table, and Jeongguk hurried to the back door.
He tore at his clothes, shifting fast enough his muscles burned hot, then glanced back to see Yoongi pausing by the door. He met his gaze, winked, and shooed him.
Huffing in slight amusement, Jeongguk nosed open the door and rushed out into the morning air. It nipped at his fur, the pads of his paws already cooling from the grass at the crisp autumn air.
It felt odd to be outside, the wind ruffling his thickening fur to prepare for winter. He slipped into the shade of the tree line, shadowing him amongst the foliage.
Leaves crunch under his paws, the sound warming him. He settled amongst the leaves, tail tucking around him to provide extra warmth and peering in through the windows.
The human with Yoongi was much taller, towering over him with broader shoulders, and longer legs. His hair was chestnut, pushed back, and black glasses perched on his nose.
