Chapter 111

Yoongi didn't think. He tore off his sunglasses and threw his weight against Hyungsoo. The officer stumbles, the gun firing. The sound cracked like thunder in the skies, and Jeongguk yelps loudly.

There was no pain over the Bond, informing Yoongi that the bullet missed its mark as Hyungsoo lost his balance on the steps and the two of them tumbled into the snow.

Hyungsoo dropped the gun, the stench of gunmetal and gunpowder was pungent within his nose as the officer yanked himself back into sitting position. Yoongi scrambles to gather his bearings, staring in horror as the officer kicks out his leg and hits Yoongi square in the chest.

The air is knocked from his lungs, bones trembling, but he fought the change as he grabbed Hyungsoo's boot and yanks him back and away from the gun.

"Jimin! Jeongguk! Taehyung! RUN!" Yoongi screams, baring his teeth as Hyungsoo turns back around to face Yoongi with a feral snarl of his own.

"Yoongi!" Jimin shouts, but Taehyung grabbed his scruff, yanking him into the tree line with as much strength as the three-legged Beta could offer.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Hyungsoo shouts, clawing at Yoongi's hands around his vest. "They are getting away!"

"That's the fucking point," Yoongi growls, moving to slam Hyungsoo against the ground but the officer pulls back his hand and lands a right hook to Yoongi's jaw. Pain explodes in Yoongi's head, the grip on Hyungsoo loosening.

The officer wiggles free. "They are wolves! They will kill you!"

Yoongi shakes his head, black spots appearing in his vision. Blinking to clear it, Yoongi scrambles after Hyungsoo as the officer grapples for his gun and swings it directly at Jeongguk who was hovering in the treeline.

Seeing the gun barrel pointed towards his mate, Yoongi felt the control slip. His clothes fell in tatters as he leaps at Hyungsoo. The officer's mouth gapes in a silent scream, eyes bulging as Yoongi knocks him back into the snow.

"Yoongi! NO!" Namjoon screamed, but it was distant. Merely a echoing noise that couldn't quite penetrate his racing thoughts.

Yoongi's heart was thundering in his ears, blood staining his vision red, and his saliva dripping from his drools as he pulls back his head, snarling viciously with bared teeth and pinned back ears.

Hyungsoo covers his face with his arms, the stench of his piss urging Yoongi for the kill when suddenly hands grab at the loose fur at his neck and yank him off. Yelping in surprise when he is torn off of Hyungsoo, he snarls as Namjoon steps in front of him, his own growl rumbling through his throat.

"Do not kill this man, Yoongi!"

Yoongi slams hi paw into the snow, shaking out his fur. "He aimed at Jeongguk. Move aside."

"If you kill him then we will be murderers as well as monsters, Yoongi," Namjoon barks, stepping back in front of the cowering Hyungsoo. "Do not give them that reason to hunt us."

"He wants to slaughter us any-damn-ways. Might as well give him a fucking reason," Yoongi snarls, moving to go around Namjoon but Namjoon just steps back in front of him with a pinched face. "Namjoon, fucking move."

"I can't. I have to protect this pack. That means I have to protect you from yourself," Namjoon states calmly, but his eyes glinted with pain. "Please, hyung. Don't do this. I know what he did, and I know what he said. It's bad enough that he saw you become a wolf in front of him."

Hyungsoo was scooting back until he hit the stairs, staring in horror at them as Jeongguk came bounding out of the forest and pressing himself against Yoongi, crying softly in his throat.
