Yoongi pushed himself up, suddenly on alert, because none of the pack members would knock on the door. Basing on the bewildered expressions on their faces, the others damn well knew that too.

"I can't- I can't smell anything," Hoseok whispers, trembling slightly. Yoongi place his hand on his thigh, a silent comfort, as he pushes himself up and moves for the door.

"Yoongi-yah, wait," Seokjin rasps, leaping up and snatching his sunglasses from nearby and shoving them towards Yoongi. The wolf arches a thin brow, staring curiously at the shades in his hands. "Visually impaired. Be careful- someone is using urine to hide their scent."

"Stay hidden," Yoongi orders firmly.

Seokjin grabs Dal, letting Namjoon lead them to the kitchen with Hoseok in tow. He waits for a few heartbeats, then the knocking sound comes again.

A pit forms in his stomach.

Quickly, he blocks Jeongguk out. He doesn't want Jeongguk to worry and come running- he has to stay focused.

Carefully, he opens the door.

It was a human, an older man in his late thirties, early forties. Tinges of grey touching his temples, and his face withered down by the Daegu heat and sun that is a constant during the summer, but now washed out by the winter snow.

He was stocky, taller than Yoongi, though not by much. There was a gun strapped to his waist, something that sent shocks through Yoongi's blood but he refused to let it show. There was a gruffness to his frame, the way his lips were curled downwards, and eyes narrowed into slits that set Yoongi on edge as they peered at him with something akin to displeasure.

The feeling is mutual, dickwad.

On seeing Yoongi at the door, the man took a hasty step back, and Yoongi closed the door behind him. The man was staring at him, looking him up and down, and Yoongi had to remind himself that he was visually impaired again.

The desire to kick his ass, however, remained when he saw the flash of disgust twist the man's features.

Just like Seokjin had said, the man's scent was so muted and distorted by something foul smelling that his nose crinkles. It was barely there, merely a tinge, but it was enough that Yoongi felt the wolf in him shift in slight distress.

"Can I help you with something, sir?" Yoongi grits out, desperately trying to feign curiosity, cocking his head to the side.

The man smiles tightly, revealing crooked teeth. "I am Sheriff Lee Hyungsoo. You must be Min Yoongi-ssi?"

"That's me," he agrees absently, keeping the fake smile planted on his face. "What brings an officer to my humble abode in the middle of winter? Don't suppose you can flash your shiny badge for me? Can't be too careful."

Hyungsoo's smile tightened further in the corners, twitching. Yoongi keeps the pleasant smile on his own face, but waited. "From my understanding, you're visually impaired."

"Humor me, then," Yoongi retorts, voice teetering on cold.

Hyungsoo stifles a sigh, but digs into his wallet and pulls out his badge. Yoongi makes a show of grabbing it and trying to bring it closer to his face, delighting in the irritation that flashes over Hyungsoo's features before handing it back.

"Why, how kind of you, Hyungsoo-ssi." Shifting his weight, he crosses his arms over his chest. "How can I assist you?"

"Yoongi-ssi, you are native to Daegu, are you not?" Hyungsoo starts, cocking his head and vile amusement tickling over his face. "I read somewhere in your file that you come from the main city of Daegu."

"If you read it, then it must be true," Yoongi snarks, brow twitching in irritation. "But I am not sure what that has to do with an officer of the law on my doorstep. I would like to know if I am arrested or something before my dick shrivels up and falls off."

Hyungsoo coughs, disgust etched into his features as he narrows his eyes on Yoongi. "I meant no offense, Yoongi-ssi. I don't mean any harm, nor am I here to arrest you. I am here because earlier this morning, my men and I were wandering the mountain and one of the traps, you see, has been set off, but the animal was gone."

Yoongi arches a brow. "And?"

Hyungsoo smacks his lips. "And, there is no way for them to be able to do so without the assistance of a human. You are the only human around this mountain range, and we are duty bound by the law to protect ourselves in the possible threat of wolves."

Nodding his head absently, Yoongi adjusts the sunglasses on his face absently. "Right. I see." Stepping closer, Yoongi resists the urge to bare his teeth."So, you're duty bound to lay traps on someone else property where only the possibility of wolves is present without first asking for explicit permission before doing so? What was it you said again? To protect ourselves?"

"Yoongi-ssi, the trap is merely set for animals that can cause-"

"Injury to the public, yes," Yoongi grits out, fingers tightening over the flesh of his arm. "I am well aware of that. Just as I am aware of the fact you need a warrant to lay such dangerous traps where there is the possibility of a person receiving injury."

Hyungsoo smiles. "You seem quite fine to me, Yoongi-ssi."

Yoongi's gum itched with the desire to tear out the man's throat, even though he knew he was just biased against humans because of what they have done and the fact they desire to hunt him and his pack.

But he did not like Hyungsoo. His wolf didn't like him either.

"You do know that it is also against the law to disarm a trap of that nature, do you not?" Hyungsoo continues, tilting his head to the side. "I am trying to do my job of keeping the families of his mountain safe. Wolves are dangerous to crops, to people- to the tourists. We survive up here on tourism, Yoongi-ssi. Please remember that."

Ash coated Yoongi's mouth. He wasn't sure how to answer that. He knew that this town was small, and the profits from the mountain trails and the campers were the main money makers in the town, but still.

Taehyung's face with his foot caught in the trap haunted his memories.

"I'll keep that in mind, Hyungsoo-ssi," Yoongi says evenly, tilting his head. "I will try harder to remember about other people on this mountain."

Hyungsoo nods. "Wolves have been a constant problem on this mountain. We never like doing it, but it needs to be done. If too many of them start making a home here, then we have no choice. For the sake of the land."

"Right."

"Now, if you, uh, hear anything strange like howling, please do call our office and inform us at once," Hyungsoo continues tightly, handing him a card. As if that makes any sense once so ever. "Your help in hunting these animals humanely and quickly would be appreciated."

"Sure. I'll hop right on that."

The sound of a twig snapping touched Yoongi's ears. Body tensing in slight horror as his gaze snaps over Hyungsoo's shoulder to see Jeongguk stepping out of the tree-line with Jimin nipping at his ear playfully.

They couldn't smell him. They couldn't smell Hyungsoo because of the fucking urine so they didn't know, they didn't fucking know he was there.

As if sensing their approach, Hyungsoo looks over and pales visibility at seeing the two wolves. Taehyung limps out of the foliage after them, more steady on his three legs than before, and his back leg tucked against his stomach.

"Wolves," Hyungsoo snarls, grasping his gun and taking aim directly at Jimin.

The two omega's froze, gazes snapping to the porch and surprise exploded over the packbond.

Things are really starting to heat up now. Oh yes. The fun begins <3
