Chapter 113

"There!"

Yoongi's eyes widened at the sound of a human shout, craning his head just in time to see a glint of metal. The crack of it was the only warning Yoongi received.

Leaping over a branch, Yoongi turned so fast that snow flew from under his paws and he sprinted forwards and over the bush where the human was hiding, scent blocked by the eerie scent of deer urine, leaves, and mud mixed with river water.

The human screams as Yoongi lands on top of him, his claws digging into the man's shoulder as he grabs the gun in his mouth and tosses it away with an outraged snarl. Another shot was fired, the tree to Yoongi's left chipped as the bullet lodged in the wood.

Snarling, Yoongi leapt off the human and turned to see humans all around. Horror filled his veins as he saw they all had guns, gasoline, and their faces covered with black paint to mask their appearance in the night.

It's a hunt.

"Hyung!" Hoseok says, tearing from behind another human and startling him as he snaps at his bag and yanks it away from the human. Yoongi catches his eye as they speed back into the foliage, more gunfire cracking through the sky.

"The creek! They headed to the creek," Yoongi shouts to Hoseok, the Beta ducking under the low hanging branches. The scent of smoke was getting heavier, and when Yoongi glances towards the sky, he sees thick clouds of it blocking the moonlight.

The sound of Seokjin's sharp bark garnered Yoongi's attention. It was further from the creek, closer towards the cabin, and Yoongi sent an image to Hoseok to head towards the creek. The Beta obeyed, coughing weakly in his throat as he dashes off.

Yoongi runs towards the sound of Seokjin's snarls and cries, bursting through the trees to see four humans cornering him, guns aimed directly at him. He was in his wolf form, fluffy fur standing on point, and his lips pulled back to bare his sharpened fangs.

Would feign lunges forwards, snapping his jaws and growls resembling a diesel engine, but the humans only cackled louder as they cocked their guns and took aim. Horror filled Seokjin, a whine strangled through his throat.

Lunging forwards, Yoongi clenched his jaws around the first human shoulder. He screamed out, dropping the gun as the Alpha tore back his head and sent the human flying into a nearby tree.

The coppery taste of blood tainted his vision red, raw rage making his blood boil from within his veins as another human turned and fired. Yoongi leapt out of the way, the bullet hitting nothing but snow, and shredded the man's ankle.

Screaming, the human tumbled to the ground. Seokjin snags the other human man's shirt, tearing him away from Yoongi before he could shoot. The man gasped, whipping around and using the butt of the gun to slam it against Seokjin's muzzle.

Yelping, Seokjin scrambled back as blood streaked the snow. The human raised his gun, closing one eye to aim for Seokjin's skull, but Seokjin regained his senses and sped forwards and clamped his jaws around the man's wrist, biting down hard enough that the bone snapped in half.

The human screamed, the gun forgotten, as he hit and tore at Seokjin's face, but the Omega didn't release until he worried at the skin. He was enraged by the memory of Taehyung's shredded foot, and was intent on delivering a similar punishment.

Tumbling to his knees, Seokjin let go, panting while blood coated his white teeth and mouth. Yoongi wasn't much better, meeting Seokjin's gaze evenly before they hurried off back into the forest.

Smoke had thickened around them, the trees beginning to groan, and Yoongi's stomach swooped when the scent of gasoline was getting stronger and the small animals were scurrying beneath their feet.
