Jimin remained crouched, pressing his tiny body as close to the ground as he could and using the shadows to his advantage to hide his bright-colored coat. He was beaming to himself as he watched Yeonsu and Yoonmin scramble to catch his scent, which he had placed all over by rubbing himself along too many objects before dousing himself in river water.
"I think he went this way!"
"But his scent is here!" Yoonmin countered.
It took everything Jimin had to remain silent and not give away his location despite the laughter that was bubbling within his gut at watching the two tumble around and sniffing desperately to figure out the direction he had gone.
A wolf bounced right on his hindquarters. Yelping in utter terror, heart nearly tumbling out of his ass at the sheer fear that turned his blood cold as he scrambled from his hiding place and faced the wolf that attacked him from behind.
"HOSEOK?" he screamed at seeing the cinnamon Beta trotting out with a wagging tail and his boisterous laughter echoing throughout his head.
Jia was by his side, slate grey fur glistening under the moonlight. Her tail was moving faster than Hoseok's, her squeaky laugh echoing in Jimin's head as she bows her body to entice him to play.
"We got you, Mini!"
"Still up to the same old tricks, I see," Hoseok muses, swaying his tail once more before he catches sight of the stunned Yoonmin and Yeonsu. He cocks his head. "Game change, boys. Whoever can catch the most of us, wins. Free for all. Go hunting."
"Oh shit," Yoonmin grunts, tail tucking between his legs. "Does that mean...?"
"I think it does, brother. I think it does. Shall we run?"
"Yes. Yes, I think we shall," Yoonmin says, spinning on a dime and bolting into the forest with his brother right on his heels.
Hoseok glances towards Jia knowingly. "Wanna get 'em?"
"Yep."
Winking towards Jimin, they race after the two boys.
Jeongguk stalks through the forest, keeping low and eyes locked on the surrounding plants and trees as he tries to peer through the shadows. He could hear other wolves, feel his mate currently on a chase, but he felt alone.
Everything, otherise, was silent.
He knew that he wasn't alone though. His instincts were raging, the feeling of eyes watching his shadowed movements tickling the back of his mind. The barest hint of paws against grass trickled over his ears, and when he peered through the foliage, he could see nothing.
And then he saw it- a hint of chestnut brown fur.
Without hesitating, Jeongguk galloped in the opposite direction. He heard a snarl of anger that whoever was stalking him had been caught and three sets of paws came clambering out of the underbrush.
Glancing over his shoulder, Jeongguk nearly stumbled at the sight of thick, overly fluffy buttercream fur of Seokjin, followed by Hayoon and Mingyu. Hayoon was spreading out his legs, eating up the terrain with Seokjin still in the lead and Mingyu taking up the rear.
"My own son! You turned my own son against me, Jin!" Jeongguk shouts, dodging a low hanging branch as his claws raked at the grass and tearing up clumps of dirt.
The sound of Seokjin's windshield wiper laugh echoed in his head as the Omega easily kept pace despite his thick, fluffy fur. His run was practically soundless with his heavy fur. Mingyu wsa right behind his mother, legs outstretched and eagerly tracking after him.
