"Dad, I am past thirteen," Seyeon whispers, fidgeting from where she was perched on the stair connected to the porch. Yoongi glances up from the tomato plant, which had begun to wilt despite the late spring weather. "Jisung already presented, so why haven't I?"
Seyeon was glaring towards her bare feet, coated with a thin layer of dirt and slightly yellow from pollen since she had been running around. Her thick black hair tumbled past her shoulders, wild and unruly as her nature, while her fair skin glistened in the afternoon sun.
Sighing, Yoongi straightened and walked over. He settled himself next to her on the porch step and clasped his hands together in front of him. "Seyeon-ah, yes, you are of age to present. Unfortunately, I don't know much about presenting since I, myself, presented very, very late."
Seyeon frowns, the gentle curve of her baby doll lips tightening. "Joon says that's because you were blessed by the Moon Goddess."
"Yes, well, Joon is a superstitious bastard," Yoongi guffaws, shaking his head. Seyeon hides a smile behind her small, slender hand. "What happened to me and Joon is- we don't really know what happened. It just did. So, baby, maybe what is happening with you will just happen the same way?"
A small sigh touched the air. "Dad, this might sound bad, but... I don't want to be a Beta. I don't want to be like Dal."
Yoongi hesitates. Dal had presented, or really lack therefore, almost a year ago. Namjoon had already suggested that because she was convinced of a human and a Lycan, then she would most likely become a Beta.
She had her scent change, but there was no heat or rut, which meant that she was, indeed, a Beta.
"And Jisung is a Omega, but I already knew he would be," Seyeon continues quietly, her fingers scratching at the thin material of her white dress. "But I am not sure either one of those are right for me. I want to be like you."
Yoongi arches a brow. "Baby, you're my carbon copy." He glances towards her hair, flicking it between his fingers. "Though, this mane is definitely your mother. Blame him for that one."
Giggling, Seyeon slapped playfully at her father's arm, then sobered. "Dad, I mean it, though. Mom told me that when he was a pup he always expected to be an Alpha, and then he just wasn't. He was an Omega. My brother is an Omega..."
"Sweetheart, listen," Yoongi says, wrapping his arm around her tiny shoulders and squeezing. "It doesn't matter what you present as. Remember when you were little, and you and your brother would fight over what you present as? I always told you that it doesn't matter because you can always defy that subgender. Look at your mother. When I met him, he was snarling and biting, and fighting off some crusty asshole."
"Mom will skin your hide for swearing so much," Seyeon jokes lightly, but her eyes lightened at the words. A slow smile carving out her face.
"Only if someone tells him," Yoongi reminds her firmly. "So, you better not say anything."
Seyeon motions zipping up her lips, then grins cheekily. Yoongi rolls his eyes and kisses her forehead.
"Your mother is an Omega, but he is fierce. So is Jin. They don't let the fact they are Omega's change them," Yoongi continues quietly. He bumps her shoulder. "Don't let your subgender become your identity, love."
Seyeon is quiet. Her fingers are still and her face tilted towards the sky. Yoongi only smiles at her when she suddenly launches herself in his arms and wraps herself tightly around Yoongi's neck.
Grunting at her added weight, Yoongi instantly encircles his arms tightly around her and sighs into her shoulder. "I love you, baby girl."
"Not a baby."
