"Baby, stay still," Jisung murmurs, desperately trying to clean off his three-year-old son's face that was covered in chocolate frosting.
Yoongi glances over at his grandson, chuckling at the mess over his chubby cheeks and staining his overalls. Insu was laughing as the boy tried to clamber over to him, get away from his mother and the evil wet wipe.
"Kiha-yah, please," Jisung whines low, wrapping his arms around the boy's belly and hoisting him up. The boy whines louder, kicking his bare feet and throwing his arms around.
Insu, seeming to have enough of his mate's struggles, stands and walks over to take the babe in his arms. Kiha seems pleased to be in his father's arms, until the moment of betrayal happens and the wipe returns to his face.
Relieved the weight was gone, Jisung groans as he leans back against the couch and rubs his overly large baby bump. Jeongguk glances over from where he finishes up some lyrics, grinning at Jisung's pouty face.
"I know that look," Jeongguk jests.
"I bet you do," Jisung mutters, whining. "How did you even carry twins? Twice!"
Jeongguk instantly points at Yoongi, who guffaws. "Ouch, Darling. It's not my fault."
"Yes, it is," Jisung and Jeongguk state calmly, then glance at one another as they break into laughter. Yoongi looks over at Insu dully, the beta finally setting his whiny son back on the floor for him to rush off.
"At least Kiha-yah has the right idea. Keep running, kid! Before they all betray you," he quips, glaring playfully towards his mate. Jeongguk shrugs, beaming, as he high-fives his son.
The small family was sitting outside their house, a blanket spread over the grass to enjoy the beginning of summer before it got too hot. Jisung and Insu came with a food offering, their son always eager to spend time with his grandparents.
Hayoon and Hajun were off at college, and Jia was out with Hoseok, leaving it just them for now. Hayoon and Hajun started their college a little early, doing a special summer program, and so they left just over a week ago.
Yoongi and Jeongguk didn't know how they felt about the quiet, but with Kiha and the upcoming babies, they knew the quiet wouldn't last much longer.
Life had been peaceful, even with the loss of two packmates. Yoongi felt it each day, with every beating of his heart, and knows it won't ever go away. He had lost his two best friends, his family members.
It was a harder winter this year. The cold was almost unbearable, and maybe it was because age and time was no longer on their side. Maybe it was like Seokjin had said, that he had everything he ever wanted. His children were happy, Dal was pregnant with her first child, and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
Seokjin passed peacefully in his sleep, and, of course, when one left, so did the other. It was Dal that discovered them both, still tucked away in their beds, smiles on their faces, and hands wrapped together.
Even in death.
Dal never cried. Not because she wasn't sad, but simply because she knew that her parents were together. Neither of them were alone, and because of that she couldn't cry. She was happy they lived so happily, so in love, and knew that even after death, everything would be okay.
Dal and Insu moved into their cabin, but never strayed towards their bedroom. It had become a shrine for them, a place to go when any of the pack needed to feel Namjoon and Seokjin again, their presence or warmth.
Yoongi went often. He missed Seokjin. Even missed being called "Yoongichi" despite all of his protests over the years. He misses Namjoon and his dimpled smile and his calm presence. But he was done crying.
