The pain was spreading slowly. He could feel it. The growing numbness in his abdomen. He didn't even have to glance at it to know- he just already knew.
Breathing felt a little hard. His vision was speckled with black orbs. He saw a fuzzy outline of the buck managing to escape and disappear into the foliage. His legs were trembling, and before he could try and catch himself, he fell into the dirt.
He had known this was coming. He was old now. Age was slowly eating away at his body, at his reflexes, at who he was. He wasn't nearly as fast as he used to be, and he wasn't as strong as he was, either.
The buck knew that; he was young, eager to live, and fighting for that right.
He heard them, then. The sound of his name being shouted as if the sound was traveling through open water.
Raising his head, he caught sight of dark chocolate fur and cinnamon fur, their scents lingering near his nose. He felt one of them rush over, the feeling of a cold nose touching his cheek, and the feeling of his mate Bond pulsating.
Light vlasted behind his eyes, and then everything went dark.
When he opened his eyes, he was staring up at a night sky splattered with stars. A full moon hung above him, gleaming down at him with it's delicate, pale light. He could feel it travel over his skin, warming him from the inside.
Breathe catching in his throat, he recognizes thick oak trees standing tall, and cherry blossoms in full bloom. Petals danced along the wind, skittering over him and brushing over his cheek as if welcoming him.
Swallowing thickly, Yoongi pushes himself up. He startles at seeing himself in human form, and even more, looking like he was twenty-five again. The wrinkles along his hands were gone, his frame lithe and the aching of his bones vanished.
Reaching up to touch his face, he felt nothing but smooth, creamy skin.
Dropping his hand, he stares down at the verdant grass beneath him, tickling at his bare skin. He was in a small clearing in a forest he didn't recognize. There was none of his pack scents, only the scent of cherry blossoms and fresh moonlight over spring grass.
"Min Yoongi."
A woman's voice. Full and crystalline, a fondness ingrained deep within the dancing melody of her voice. Head turning, Yoongi felt his breath catch in his throat at seeing a beautiful woman stepping out of the forest, hand resting along a tree.
The woman was tall and plush, wearing nothing but a sheer white gown that showcased her stunning body and plump breasts. Her feet were bare, hair curled and falling over her shoulders in loose waves and cascading hear her buttocks.
Her hair was the color of moonlight, pale and seeming to glimmer and change shades as if it was representing the shadows of the moon. Pale, pink lips and full cheeks dusted in a light blush and her smile... so warm.
Yoongi's heart skipped a beat.
He knew her. He had spoken to her before, and with a start, he remembered all those years ago when he was mauled, and it was her voice that called him back. The Goddess Luna that had given him the gift.
"Luna," he whispers, eyes widening in awe. Luna smiles brighter, hand dropping from the tree and bowing her head so that her pale hair covers her features for a moment. "I remember you."
"I had told you before, my child. When the time comes where we meet, you will remember," she says gently, striding a bit closer. Yoongi stares up at her, heart clenching tightly in his chest.
"I- I died. This time around, I died," Yoongi whispers, glancing up through his lashes towards the Goddess. He didn't feel as sad as he thought he would, recalling the last glimpse of his treasured pack mates.
Luna hesitates, a sadness settling over her features. She kneels in the grass beside Yoongi, small hand reaching over and placing it on top of his bare knee. "Yes, dear one. You were no longer needed on earth, and your body had been given back to me. Like all life comes to an end."
Yoongi feels tears well up in his eyes, spilling over his cheeks. Luna softened, reaching over with her fingers to brush away the tears.
"Please, do not cry." She hums gently, pulling back her hand and smoothing back his silvery hair.
"I'm not crying because I am sad, My Luna," Yoongi replies, reaching over and grasping onto her hand. Luna looks startled as Yoongi bows low, forehead touching the grass and hand splayed over the grass. "Thank you for the gift you have given me. For the life you had given me. You have not only given me the gift of being a wolf under your moonlight, but the love of my life and children whom I adore. You have given me so much."
The Goddess chuckles breathlessly, placing her hand on top of his hand and sinking her fingers through his silvery locks.
"You deserved this life, Min Yoongi," she murmurs gently, sweeping back his hair. "And now, it is over."
"What about my children? My pack members?" Yoongi says, raising his head and looking at her beseechingly. "Tae will be devastated. Mini too... Oh god, my youngest! Jia."
Luna shakes her head. "Do not fret for them, dear one," she croons gently, "Your children will be alright, of that I promise. As for your pack, I have sent them a dream tonight. Letting them know that their Alpha and treasured Omega is safe within my Forest."
Yoongi bows his head. "I... I will miss them."
"You will see them again. When their time comes, and the moon calls them home again, you shall see them again, my precious, sweet child." Luna stands smoothly, gown swaying around her. She smiles down at Yoongi. "For now, you have people waiting for you."
Gesturing towards the forest entrance, Yoongi follows her hand and feels his heart fall into his stomach at three familiar figures standing under the cherry blossoms tree.
Seokjin looked just like he did when they first met for college. Youth and vibrancy, body shapely and muscular with nothing but health. Namjoon had no scar marring his handsome features, lips pulled back to reveal his dimples, and an arm wrapped around his waist.
Jeongguk was grasping onto Seokjin's hand, staring towards the Moon Goddess with large eyes and twitching nose. He looked exactly like he did during his youth, when he was found on his porch all those years ago.
Luna smiles lovingly towards them. "Go, my child. They are waiting for you."
Stumbling forwards, Yoongi practically sprints over and pauses in front of them. Seokjin smiles, opening his arms, and Yoongi breaks into a sob as he collapses into his awaiting arms. "Hey, Yoongichi."
"Hey, hyung."
"Welcome home, Yoongi hyung," Namjoon says, laying his head on Yoongi's and smiling gently down at him. Yoongi sobs, reaching over and touching his face.
Jeongguk kisses his cheek. "In this life, and the next."
