The sounds of claws against his floor broke Yoongi from his trance. Glancing over his shoulder, he caught sight of Taehyung's dark colored fur and flaming golden gaze. Swallowing, he offers a tired smile.

"Hi, Taehyung-ah," he greets gently, returning his focus back to the sink.

"Hi, Yoongi." Yoongi barely managed to catch the slippery plate at the sudden deep voice. Peeking back over his shoulder, he saw Taehyung pushing himself to sit upright in human form. "What are you doing?"

"Washing dishes. If you could stand, I would force you to help," Yoongi admits, flashing a brief smile in the direction of the wolf. "How is Jimin doing by the way?"

The sound of a harsh yelp, a big thud, and Jeongguk whining followed not a second after the question left his mouth.

Taehyung chuckles drily. "I think that answers it for itself."

"Seems like a crash course," he muses, chuckling.

Taehyung snorts, amused. Leaning back against the chair, Taehyung lays his head on his arm and watches Yoongi shift and move. Yoongi didn't mind too much, slowly easing from his tension the longer the peace floats between them.

"You're not what I imagined humans to be."

Yoongi turns off the water, reaching up and drying his hands before he turns around and crosses his arms over his chest and locks his hurt ankle over the other to ease the steady throb there. Taehyung remains still, abnormally still, and simply looks away.

"What did you imagine humans to be?"

"Ever since I was a pup, I have heard that humans only care about themselves," Taehyung states, voice steady and unbothered. "The stories I have heard paint you in crimson. I used to watch humans, wondering. Curious on if the stories had any truth to them. Like the fairytales my mother would tell me and my siblings."

Yoongi cocks his head, admiring the flow of dark brown hair and sharpness of his jawline. "That's the problem with fairytales," he mutters, "there is always some truth in them."

Taehyung grunts. "I suppose that is true." Stretching out a leg, his head falls against the wall. "Otherwise I wouldn't have Jimin, now would I?"

Yoongi smiles faintly. "I suppose not."

"My father was a great hunter," Taehyung continues, "and a strong Alpha. He was fascinated with humans. He would tell me stories of them, when he would get close enough to some during his hunts. Tell me about their clothes, their books, and how they can write in these strange symbols. It always seemed so magical as a puppy, you know?"

Yoongi shrugs. "I can see how. Just as when I was kid, sitting in my third grade class, listening to my teacher telling me all these stories about Lycan's. Amazing creatures with the abilities to change from man to wolf. That's pretty fucking magical to a kid."

Taehyung laughs. The sound was loud and full, and Yoongi finds himself smiling that he had managed to make that sound. "I never thought of it that way. It's just... me."

Yoongi nods firmly. "Exactly."

Taehyung glances up, smiling dimly, and then returns to staring towards the floor. "My father was a great wolf. He taught me everything I know. I was the first born of my litter, and my siblings were small. We all turned out to be Beta's though." The frown returns to his lips. "Head Alpha wasn't happy about that. He considered my parents a failed mating."

"Yeah, well, your Head Alpha is a real fucking dick," Yoongi snaps, growling at the mere idea. "He has no right to say that. Who cares if you're Beta's? Or even Omega's. Damn. You're still fucking wolves. Powerful no matter the sub-gender.."

Taehyung looks back up, a smile curving his lips. "My mother always used to tell us that she didn't care about our sub-genders. We will always be her special pups. And my dad taught us all how to hunt. To track." Taehyung's smile turns wistful."I was always the best at capturing small things. But Jimin- he is a great tracker. Despite being an Omega, that wolf has a great nose."

"I am sure your parents are very proud of you. And your mate."

Taehyung's smile fades. "I am not too sure they are proud anymore. Not since I denied Head Alpha." A sigh flutters past his lips. "I just couldn't do it. I couldn't sit back and watch Jimin mate with another. With one who can never love him the way he deserves."

"You shouldn't have to," Yoongi replies stiffly. Taehyung looks back towards the archway, in the direction where they could hear Jeongguk and Jimin giggling. The sound warms Yoongi's heart. "I am sure your parents know that."

"Despite everything, they were loyal to Head Alpha. I respected my parents for that, being loyal even to someone so... cruel," Taehyung admits, cocking his head to the side thoughtfully. "Head Alpha did protect my father from the human's thunder, so he isn't all bad."

"You still went around humans, even after that?" Yoongi asked, incredulous.

"You're around us, and we bit you," Taehyung points out, arching a brow as he glances towards Yoongi's wrapped up ankle.

Yoongi winces, shifting his weight as his ankle throbs to make its presence know. "Point taken."

"It's like I said," Taehyung continues, "humans were something out of a puppy's tale. A warning our mothers would tell us to keep us close to the pack, and to hunt better. I was curious about them. Learned some things."

"Like what?" Yoongi wonders absently.

"That you can be cruel," he answers swiftly. "You're thoughtless; tactless. You build things simply because you can, and you hunt animals for the sheer pleasure of shedding blood. That having a mate is almost... taboo."

"Disgustingly true, yeah," Yoongi admits weakly.

"But humans can also be annoyingly brave, or maybe stupid. I haven't really figured that one out yet." Taehyung chuckles to himself, and Yoongi grins.

"Both. It's definitely both. I saved Jeongguk's life by running outside in the middle of the biggest storm ever with a branch and threw it at two huge wolves. Called them fucktards or something. Not to mention I am partially blind."

Taehyung broke into loud laughter. He started laughing so hard that he ended up falling over and used a hand to cover his face. Yoongi chuckles to himself, recalling how scared he was during the time, how idiotic.

When Taehyung finally gathered his laughter, pushing himself back up, he was grinning from ear to ear. "See? You just proved my point."

"We like to fit stereotypes here," Yoongi jokes. "It's how we function as a race."

Taehyung was staring at him. He could feel the heat of his stare, the weight of it against his features, and it took everything it had in him to remain still. A part of him wanted to wither and hide from the point-blank stare, but didn't.

"You would be a good wolf."

Yoongi blinks. "What?"

Taehyung didn't elaborate, only offers a quick box smile before his skin ripples and a wolf replaces the boy. Yoongi scowls, straightening from where he was leaning against the counter as Taehyung hopped to his paws and sprints out of the kitchen.

Yoongi stood still a moment, wondering what on earth had just happened, but then just shook it off. He had a feeling that would happen a lot around that Beta.
