Lucas's POV:
I leaned against my bedside, playing around on my phone.
Suddenly, my phone beeped indicating I had a new text message.
I opened it up and read the message.
Riley:
Hey guys!! So I finally got a phone so we can group chat wooo ☺️☺️😁✌️😂
My friend Riley finally got her first cell phone.
My other friends and I have been wanting to start a group chat forever, but we couldnt.
My phone beeped again.
Farkle:
Yay!!! 👏👌👌
I started texting something back to them.
Lucas: finally.
Riley: shut up 😂😂
Another beep.
Maya: hey guys.
I suddenly found myself smiling when Maya's name popped up on my screen.
Riley: hey Maya!! Isn't this cool??
Riley's excitement over group chat was pretty... Interesting.
Maya: yep.
Lucas: you sound so excited I can tell.
Maya: you too cowboy you too.
I could hear her saying those words even through text message.
We had a conversation for awhile until Farkle and Riley left.
It was just Maya and I now.
Lucas: why do you never use emojis? 😜
Maya: I don't like them.
Lucas: why?
Maya: I have no idea
Lucas: you're not even a real teen
Maya: just bc I don't like emojis?
Lucas: yes
Maya: wow cowboy you are even dumber through text.
I smiled at that text, Maya insulting me was kinda our thing.
Lucas: thank you.
Maya: emojis just look weird
Lucas: so?
Maya: so that's why i don't like them.
Lucas: invalid reason
Maya: what the heck
Lucas: what?
Maya: your so weird, cowboy.
Lucas: i'm taking this as a compliment.
Suddenly, a different message popped up.
Riley: hey do you guys mind? This is a GROUP chat
I blinked at the screen. I totally forgot Farkle and Riley could read this convo.
Lucas: oops sorry 😂
Farkle: yeah my phone won't stop beeping
Riley: are u two done
Maya: yeah
Riley: at least make another chat! You fight like a married couple.
I stared at my screen, not sure how to answer Riley on that one.
But i guess we did kinda act like a married couple..... I mean fight. Yeah.
Suddenly, i got added into another chat and i opened it up.
Maya: Goodnight cowboy. I'll talk to u later.
I smiled, Maya made a whole new message of just us two.
Lucas: Goodnight hart.
I then texted something else.
Lucas: Use an emoji!
Maya: Never
I laughed at her stubbornness and shut my phone off, connecting it to my charger.
