A/N
My prediction and what I want to happen, for girl meets semi formal.

Riley and Maya were walking the school hallways, passing tons of posters.
They reached their lockers and Maya took the piece of paper off of hers. "Seriously."
Riley read it. "8th grade semi formal."
Maya just threw it to floor. "Boring."
Janitor Harley walked past them at that moment and looked down at the piece of paper.
"Maya are you gonna pick that up?"
Maya looked at him, letting out a sigh and placed it in the trash can.
As she walked back to Riley, she heard Riley say "I want Lucas to ask me."
Maya raised an eyebrow, "you think he will?"
Riley sighed, facing her locker. "Probably not."
"You could always ask him." Maya said.
"But it's boys ask girls!"
Maya waved her hand in the air. "Oh, who cares about that!"
Suddenly, some random boy came up to us and approached Riley.
"Umm..hi?" Riley said, in a questionable tone.
"Hey." He said, smiling at her.
Maya suddenly caught on and stepped up. "Riley, do you know what he is trying to ask you here?"
The boy turned to Maya. "How'd you know?"
Maya shrugged her shoulders. "Lucky guess."
The boy turned back to Riley. "Anyways, my name is Jason and this is a little weird. But you seem really pretty and nice, do you wanna go to the dance with me?
Before Riley could answer, Maya ran up to her and said, "she would love to! See you there."
He just nodded and walked away, since class was about to start.
Riley turned to me. "Why would you do that?"
"Oh come on. He's cute, seems nice. Why wouldn't you say yes?"
"But what about Lucas?"
Maya just shrugged. "He will live. You guys broke up anyway."
The warning bell rang and we walked into history class.

-later that day-
Maya's POV:
School was now over and we were walking to Riley's apartment.
"Wait." Riley stopped me, before we made it inside.
"What?"
"You should probably know josh is here."
My heart started racing from hearing his name.
"How do I look?!" I exclaimed.
Riley just laughed at me. "You look fine! Let's go inside."
We opened the door and i saw josh and Riley's little brother.
Josh was Riley's uncle, I should probably add.
Josh turned around as he saw us and said, "hey guys! I have news!"
Riley put her stuff down. "What is it?"
"I'm volunteering at your school semi formal. Pre college stuff."
I started walking towards him. "So this means--"
"Nope." Josh said, not letting me finish.
I sat on the couch, trying to hide my disappointment.
Okay yes, I have a crush on my best friends uncle.
He's attractive and nice. I know that.
He knows I like him too. But, I still am three years younger than him.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in my head.
I stood up. "Riley. Bay window."
We walked into her bedroom and took a seat by her window.
"I have a plan." I said.

The semi formal was coming up, and I still didn't have a date.
Not that I really wanted one.
But, it was all part of my plan.
Since josh was gonna be at the semi formal, I need to get a date so I can get him jealous.
Will it work? I don't know. But it's worth a shot.
I looked across the hallway to see Riley and that Jason guy talking.
I'm gonna be honest here, they seem really cute together.
I looked on the other side of the hallway to see a familiar face.
I worked over and patted the person on the back. "Sup cowboy?"
"Riley has a boyfriend?" He said in response.
I nodded. "Uh huh. Pretty cool right?"
I was obviously messing with him. I always do that.
"I was hoping to ask her."
I just shrugged my shoulders. "Too late now."
After a moment of silence, Lucas turned to me. "Do you have a date yet?"
I groaned. People keep reminding me. "Nope."
"Do you know go with me?"
"WHAT?!"
"Calm down! It's just to get Riley jealous."
I was about to say 'no way' until I remembered the entire josh situation.
"Sure." I answered.
Lucas blinked. "Did you really just agree?"
I was shocked too, but i had a reason too. "I'm just gonna get josh jealous. We aren't a thing."
The bell rang and Lucas walked away from me.
I turned around to Riley and Jason were gone.
I sighed, realizing i just agreed to go to the dance with my best friends crush.
Tomorrow night will be interesting.
