"So what do you think?" I asked Lucas, as we walked into the house.

Lucas got off of work early so he could come home.

"A car? Well. They both have to get their driver licenses." He said.

I sighed. "I know. And them sharing a car.. Wouldn't be the best idea we've had."

We walked into the house and entered the kitchen.

"Having twins can be so complicated." I said. "They both want different things."

Lucas put his stuff down. "Well, you know we can always make more."

I hit him across the chest. "Lucas, stop."

"I always walk in at such wrong times." A voice behind us said.

We turned around to see Carson standing there.

"But dad has told me stories before---"

Lucas cut him off. "Okay, I think that's good Carson."

I glanced at him. "We will discuss this later."

Lucas sighed, "love you."

"Yeah. That's that I thought."

I had too many things on my mind about the birthday present than that at the moment.

"Carson, where's Callie?"

Carson shrugged. "Up in her bedroom."

I let out a sigh. I wish she would become a little more social.

Of course, when I was her age I did the same thing...

But that's not important right now.

I put my stuff down and said, "I'll be right back."

I went up the stairs to go to Callie's room.

Once I got there, I forgot about knocking and entered Callie's room.

I saw her on her phone and listening to music.

She took a headphone out and said, "yes?"

I sat on the edge of her bed. "So do you want to invite some friends over tomorrow?"

Callie just groaned. "Mom, I'm not 5 anymore. I can invite them myself."

"I know that. But who?"

"I don't know...but I don't want you to invite any of them. Please."

I stood up. "What about Riley's daughter? Megan? You haven't seen her in awhile."

Riley was my childhood friend and we still talked sometimes, but she lived half an hour away.

"I barely talk to her."

"But she's your age, maybe you guys could talk more."

Callie didn't argue with me this time, turning her phone back on.

Without saying anything else, I decided to leave the room.

I sighed. Raising a teenage girl can be difficult, especially if she doesn't want to do anything.

I know it probably seems like I'm trying too hard.

But since Lucas and I got together, I've kinda grown apart from her.

It was all an accident, obviously.

But I want our mother daughter relationship to be like it was when she was younger....

I went downstairs to see Carson looking in the fridge and I stopped him.

"Not so fast."

He looked at me, confused. "What?"
