I was walking the school hallway with my best friend and her boyfriend.
They were cuddling up close to each other and it made me wanna barf.
I was pretty much a third wheel at this point.
Farkle then let go of Riley's hand and adjusted his backpack. "I got to go to a family thing."
Thank god, I muttered inside of my brain.
Riley, on the other hand, made a pouty face. "Aww okay."
Farkle looked at her. "aren't you gonna say bye?"
"no. You say bye first." Riley said.
I rolled my eyes. Here we go.
"No you!"
"No you!"
"No you!"
I stepped in between them. "Bye Farkle."
He left after a few seconds and riley just sighed happily.
"You two are gross." I said as we reach our lockers.
She smiled. "thanks."
After a few minutes, Riley and I walked side by side.
"You know what you need Maya?" She said.
"What?" I said plainly.
"A boyfriend!"
I glared at her. "No way."
"Come on Maya, you really need... No offense or anything."
I groaned and threw my backpack up on my back. "No boy would ever like me."
"I doubt that's true." Riley said.
I barely listened to what she said and continued to walk.
After moments of silence, Riley suddenly exclaimed. "I got an idea!"
Before I could argue, she said "I know the perfect guy for you."
I looked at her, giving her a "are you serious right now?" Look.
"I can set you guys on a blind date." She said.
"No way would I ever do that." I said.
Riley crossed her arms. "Fine. If you don't, then we will have a sleepover, with Farkle there."
I made a face. "Ew not again!"
"Then you'll do the blind date?"
"Whatever." I mumbled.
She clapped her hands together, "great! I'll go arrange it."
-the next day-
Riley ran up to me at lunch and was smiling widely."I got your blind date set up!"
I almost choked on my food. "Right now?"
Riley revealed a boy from beside her. "First dates are the first impressions."
I shot her a glare but looked to the boy next to her.
At least he wasn't ugly...
"This is Lucas, Lucas this is Maya." Riley said.
We both said an awkward hi to each other and Riley left us alone, running off to who knows what.
This so called Lucas sat down next to me and it was silent.
Finally he said, "it's okay if this makes you uncomfortable."
I shook my head. "No no.. Umm actually Riley made me do this blind date."
I tried not to sound rude saying that but eh.
Lucas sat up. "Really? Me too."
I looked at him. "Really?"
Lucas nodded. "Yeah. She said I needed to find a girlfriend."
"Me too!! Except... A boyfriend... Not a girlfriend.. Yeah I should stop talking." I said awkwardly.
I'm never ever awkward around boys... What's happening here?
Lucas just laughed. "Your funny."
"Thanks cowboy."
Lucas raised his eyebrows. "Cowboy?"
I shrugged. "Got it from your accent."
Lucas nodded. "Ahh ok. Yeah I moved here last year."
"Oh. When did you meet riley?" I asked.
"Last year, and I think she liked me at the time..." Lucas said.
I blinked. Awkward...
"Oh." Was all I said.
Lucas shrugged. "I'm glad she found Farkle though, I kinda have a thing for blonde girls."
The bell suddenly rang and I thought about that.
Wow, we talked for the entire lunch period. That went by super fast
We were both about to leave when I stopped Lucas. "Wait!"
He turned around, "yeah?"
"I guess you can say I have a thing for guys from Texas too..." I said, and then I walked away.
