"So uh... Do you want to?" Lucas finished, scratching the back of his neck.
"YEAH!!! I mean uh yeah sure." I said awkwardly.
"Okay see you later!" He said.
"Okay!" We went in for a hug but ended it with a high five.
I watched him leave, taking a deep breath. I turned around to see a amused Riley.
"A high five? Really?" She said.
"Yes really!! Now let's go get me ready!" I said, pulling her away.
"Your date isn't for five hours--okay!!" She said as I dragged her away.

I put on about my tenth outfit and showed Riley. "Whatcha think?"
She was laying on my bed. "I think the first outfit you had on was perfectly fine!!!"
She sat up, facing me. "Maya it's just Lucas."
I sighed, sitting next to her. "I'm just nervous."
"Just don't be awkward."
I blinked. "That's like saying don't be myself!"
"Exactly."
I scoffed, throwing my stuff on the bed as I heard a beep.
"Oh that's my mom, gotta go." Riley said, standing up.
"What's up?" I asked curiously.
"Gotta babysit auggie." She said, rolling her eyes.
"Have fun." I said saracastically.
She waved it off. "Whatever. Have fun on your date!"
With that, she left and I was alone.
I put on a little makeup and then heard my front door knock.
I ran to it, a little too excited, that by the time I reached the door I was out of breath.
"Hey Lucas." I said, taking deep breaths.
"Hey." He looked at me. "Are you okay?"
"Sorry i was just.. Working out."
Wow Maya. Wow.
Lucas smiled at me. "Nice."
We walked out the front door and Lucas closed it behind me. "You know I was joking right?" I said
Lucas chuckled. "Yup."
We went outside and got a cab to the movie theater.
-at the movies-
We walked inside and gave the man out tickets.
We headed to the snacks and I started to grab out of my money when Lucas stopped me.
"The guy always pays." He said.
I raised my eyebrows. "You sure??"
He nodded and smiled at me. "Of course."
We got a large popcorn to share and drinks and we headed into the theater.
We sat in our seats and sat there answering trivia questions as we waited.
Suddenly, a elderly couple came by us.
"You see that George? Look how cute those kids are." The woman said.
The man next to her laughed. "I remember when that was us."
Then they walked away, hand in hand.
I blinked and felt my face flush. I looked over at Lucas.
"Okay then." He said.
We laughed as the movie started to get dark, and the movie was starting.
It was dark in the theater, I didn't realize that Lucas and I were holding hands.

"that movie was good!" Lucas said, standing up.
I nodded and looked down at my hand to see it intertwined with Lucas's.
Lucas looked down too and blushed. "Sorry."
He was about to let go when I tightened my grip. "It's okay I like it."
We walked up to my apartment door. I let go of Lucas's hands.
"I had fun." I said.
"Yeah...maybe we can do it again sometime?" He said, winking.
"Hmm....I'll think about it." I said, winking back.
He chuckled and said "see ya hart."
"Bye cowboy."
