We walked into the ice rink, heading towards the main desk.
It was the weekend and my friends and I all decided to go ice skating.
Well, I really suck at ice skating.
I didn't want to go but my friend Riley made me come.
We all ordered our skates and went into the ice rink.
I sat on a near bench and slipped on my skates.
I was having trouble putting on the first skate though.
"Ugh! What's the trick to this?" I mumbled to myself.
"Need help?" I heard a voice above me.
I looked up to see Lucas in front of me, with his skates already on.
"From you? Nah I'm good cowboy." I said.
Lucas shook it off. "Whatever hart."
You may think we were being rude to each other but this is how our friendship goes.
After a few minutes, I figured out how to put my skates on and headed towards the ice.
So I'm a little nervous... I've never done this before.
But, I decided to not show my nerves in front of my friends and just go for it.
I reached the ice and immediately almost slipped.
I reached to the wall and held my hand on it, dragging my feet on the ice.
I watched as Lucas, Riley and Farkle all skated around the ice.
I held onto the wall and looked around for an exit. Crap I'm stuck.
I saw one on the way other side of the ice and slowly dragged my feet along the wall.
After awhile, Lucas skated over. He made it look too easy.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nodded. "Totally."
"It would help if you took your hands off the wall." Lucas said.
"Umm..."
I stared down at my hands which were gripping hard to the wall.
Lucas stood on the ice, waiting for me to the move.
Okay it can't be that hard....
I carefully took my hands off and lost my balance, falling to the ground.
Before I hit the ice something caught me.
"The ice is slippery." Lucas said, chuckling.
I couldn't help but blush.
Our faces were inches apart and he was holding my waist.
After a few seconds, we laughed nervously and Lucas stood me back up.
"I'm guessing you've never skated?" Lucas said.
I sighed, looking down. "Nope. I suck."
Lucas shook his head. "It's hard at first, you just need practice."
I held onto Lucas to keep my balance and Lucas grabbed my hand.
"Let's take baby steps."
We slowly walked around the ice, hand in hand.
"I think I'm getting the hang of it..." I said.
We both smiled at each other and locked eyes for a second.
"Uh umm.. Let's keep skating!" I said, breaking the silence.
"Yeah okay."
-----------
We got off the ice, laughing hysterically."That was so funny!" I exclaimed.
"It was not! I feel so bad." Lucas said.
While we were skating Lucas lost his balance and bumped into this older woman and she fell.
Okay I guess it wasn't funny... I have a light sense of humor.
"Whatever." I said, putting my skates back on the counter.
"Just take that as a lesson learned. Everybody falls, even people that have done it awhile." Lucas said.
I nodded. "Um thanks for the help..."
"No problem. You're getting better hart." Lucas said.
I nodded. "You aren't too bad either cowboy."
"I'm gonna take that as a compliment."
We walked towards the exit to go meet Riley and Farkle who were already outside.
I was about to walk out the door when I heard Lucas.
"Hey um Maya?"
I turned around. "Yeah?"
He scratched the back of his head nervously. "Maybe we can skate again sometime?"
I smiled a little and put my hand on the door.
"It's a date."
