I tried reconnecting the Internet for like the tenth time.
It still wouldn't work.
"Ugh!" I yelled, frustrated.
The Internet in my house sucks and I have a essay for English due tomorrow.
Me being the person I am, waited last minute to work on it.
I looked at the connection options I had.
Maybe I should just hack into my neighbors wifi....
Their wifi looked like it great connection.... 5 bars.
I looked out my bedroom window to see the neighbors house.
I don't really know them so well since they just moved in.
Suddenly, I heard noises coming from outside and I looked up.
There was a boy around my age looking at me from his window.
I cleared my throat. "Well uh this is awkward."
I put my laptop down and looked back up.
"Can I help you?" The boy asked.
I didn't say anything.
I can't just ask a stranger for their wifi password, that would be weird.
"Uh nope.. I'm just working on something for school and... Enjoying the view." I said, hesitant.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yep."
The boy leaned forward a little. "Because it looks like your searching for wifi connection.
I looked down to see the laptop was facing him.
I was so embarrassed.
I sighed. "Listen, I have a paper due tomorrow and I need wifi."
He nodded, thinking. "Let me see your laptop."
I awkwardly handed it to him and watched him type some letters.
He then handed it back to me.
"There... Consider it a new neighbor present." He smirked.
I looked to see it was connected. "Thanks.."
He was about to shut his window when he called out, "by the way im Lucas."
"I'm Maya."
He smiled a little at me and closed the window.
I closed my window since the cold air was coming inside.
I stayed by my window so I could get their connection better.
I finished typing and saved it to my documents.
I shut my laptop and put it by my desk.
I climbed into my bed, thinking.
Not the way I was planning on getting wifi... But oh well.

-a few years later-
I ran into my bedroom with a big smile on my face.
I had to tell someone the big news.
I opened my window and shouted. "Lucas!!"
It was silent until I heard someone come to the window.
Lucas opened it and had his hair all messed up.
"Maya you woke me up." He whined.
"Don't you realize it's 3 in the afternoon?" I said.
He nodded. "Yeah but I had today off and I was tired."
Since we are seniors in high school, we usually have half days instead of full days.
I changed the subject. "Okay well, I have great news!"
I held up a paper with words all over it. "I got a application for college! They want me to check it out and apply."
Lucas took it from me and read over it. "New York university? Good job."
He handed me it back and I smiled.
I reached for my laptop by my bedside, "I just have to type the application out."
"Please don't tell me you need my wifi password."
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up Lucas. That joke is old now."
He laughed. "Not for me!"
I smiled. It was a weird way but ever since that day, we talk everyday from our windows.
I opened up the word document. "Besides you know my mom fixed the wifi."
Lucas nodded. "I know I was just teasing you."
I started typing when I saw Lucas leaning on his hand.
"Can I go back to bed now?" He asked me.
I rolled my eyes. "You are so lame."
"I know."
He sent me a wink and said, "talk to you later Maya."
"Same place as always?" I asked him.
He nodded. "Yes. Here."
He shut the window and I shut mine as well.
I put my laptop down and just started thinking.
I'm glad he's my neighbor.
