I walked into my second period and took a seat in my normal seat.
I looked next to me to see Riley sitting there, all prepared for class.
Me on the other hand, didn't finish my homework and forgot my books in my locker.
Oops.
The bell rang and everybody took their seats and turned our attention to the front.
Mr. Matthews came in and set his briefcase down.
"Good morning class."
We all mumbled "good mornings" and Mr. Matthews just looked at us.
"Yeah okay." He walked over to his desk. "Open to page 246 in your textbooks."
Everybody grabbed their textbooks and started flipping through the pages.
I bit my lip and just fiddled with my fingers nervously.
Suddenly, i felt something hit my back and it was Lucas Friar.
"Here." He said, handing me his extra book.
"Thanks.." I whispered awkwardly.
I opened to page 246 and stared blankly at the words.
"Okay now read through the entire chapter and take 20 facts on it." Mr. Matthews said.
The entire class groaned and Mr. Matthews just smiled, sitting in his chair.
We started working and I just sat, staring at the black letters.
I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder and something fell to the ground.
I looked at the floor to see a piece of paper and I raised my eyes at Lucas.
I slowly picked it up and hesitantly opened it up.
I then read it inside of my mind:
I'm sorry I'm asking you this so suddenly and randomly, I've just always been nervous to ask you in person...
I turned it to the back, since there was no more room on the sticky note.
Maya Hart, will you go on a date with me? You don't have to say yes...
I bit my lip, looking at the note. I've never really been asked out before..
Lucas was a good friend but we always teased each other.
I guess that's why we got along so well.
I carefully wrote under Lucas's handwriting and folded it up.
I tossed it lightly back and I could see Lucas pick it up.
Mr. Matthews suddenly caught us and raised his eyebrows at me. "Are you passing notes?"
Lucas and I were silent and mr Matthews said, "how about you read it to the entire class."
I slowly stood up, looking at Riley as I walked by.
This was very cruel.
Lucas cleared his throat. "Well, um..... I asked Maya on a date because I was too nervous to ask her in person."
He slightly smiled at me and I smiled back.
I finished for him, "and I said yes."
