Maya's POV:
"I'm so nervous." Riley said, fixing her dress.
"Don't be nervous. You look great." I said, finishing her hair.
It was our first high school dance tonight.
I'm not a big fan of dances, but Riley is making me go tonight.
"I wish Farkle asked me to the dance." Riley said sadly.
I sat down next to her. "Don't worry he will. He's liked you forever."
She nodded and we both walked out of her bedroom.
To be honest, I was probably going to be the only person dancing alone at the dance.
I sighed aloud but kept a smile on my face.
It took us awhile to get out of the house with Riley's parents, but we got out evanutally.
"We are meeting Farkle and Lucas there." Riley told me, sitting down on a seat in the subway.
I sat next to her. "Okay."

The subway ride was about 10 minutes until we reached our school.
We got out and headed to the gym where the dance was.
There was party decorations everywhere and tables with some food and drinks.
"Wow, never knew they could make this gym look nice." I commented.
I saw Farkle and Lucas coming towards us and I couldn't help but look at Lucas.
He looked pretty good in a tuxedo...
Forget I just said that.
"Hey girls." Farkle said.
We talked for a little bit until I decided to go get some punch.
"Do you guys want some?" I asked my friends.
They shook their heads and I went off to the punch table.
I poured some into a cup and turned around to see something unexpected.
Riley and Farkle were dancing together and laughing.
I smiled at them and sat near a table alone.
I listened to the nice beat of the music, tapping my feet along.
Suddenly, the music started to slow down and people stopped dancing.
I turned around and took a drink when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned to see Lucas standing there, with his hands in his pocket.
"Hey Maya." He said, with a smile.
I put my cup down. "Oh hey."
The slow music started playing.
"Cool dance huh?" Lucas said.
I nodded. "Yeah."
We both looked around to see everyone in the room slow dancing with a partner.
I felt uncomfortable, and looked down at my shoes.
"So looks like everyone has a partner besides us." Lucas said, hinting at something.
I suddenly saw Lucas hold his hand out and looked up at him.
"Maya may I have this dance?" He asked.
I didn't know what to say. "Lucas I--"
Lucas shrugged. "If you don't want to--"
"No-- I mean. Sure I'll dance with you."
I slowly took Lucas's hand and our fingers intertwined together.
We went to a empty spot in the gym and I put my arms around Lucas.
"I've never really danced with a guy before." I admitted.
Lucas chuckled. "It's all good."
After a minute, the song ended and Riley and Farkle came over to us.
I couldn't help but smile.
That was my first dance.
