Maya's POV:
I entered my apartment, carrying my heavy backpack on my shoulder.
"I'm home!!" I exclaimed.
I walked into the kitchen to see my brother David and his best friend Lucas.
I felt my face get hot immediately. Why did I get cursed to have my brothers best friend also be my crush?? Why??
"Hey Maya." Lucas said, pulling on my ponytail lightly. He has done that since we were little kids.
"Hey man stop flirting with my sister." David said.
David always teases Lucas about flirting with me. Well, he obviously doesn't know about my crush on Lucas.
Lucas put his hands up in surrender. "She's cute."
I blushed and looked down. I love how Lucas treats me like a little sister.
David just shrugged, used to hearing this.
"David!!!" Our mom suddenly exclaimed from another room.
"What??" He yelled back.
"There's a girl on the phone for you." She said, holding out the home phone.
David smirked and fist pumped Lucas. "I'll be right back."
As soon as David left the room, the awkwardness began.
"So how is miss Maya hart??" Lucas asked me, smiling.
God that smile. It gets me EVERYTIME.
"I'm fine." I said. I tried to say more but no words came out.
We sat in more silence that I started to count the squares on the tile of the counter.
Lucas cleared his throat and my attention went back up to him. He smiled that smile again.
"You know what would be crazy??" Lucas said.
"What??"
"If you and me were dating." He then started laughing.
A part of my heart shattered. "Hahahhaha that would be crazy." I said, laughing nervously.
Of course he wouldn't like me. I'm just his best friends dorky sister.
"LUCAS!!! We can play that new video game now." David called.
"Great, so me and you Friday??" Lucas asked me, about to stand up.
"Wait wha--" I started to say.
"Great it's a date." Lucas stood up and pulled on my ponytail again lightly.
He winked and then left.
