"I can't believe you forgot to do it!"
"I'm sorry it was an accident!"
Lucas ran his hand through his hair. "This was half our grade."
Did I feel guilty for forgetting to do our project? Yeah.
But I've never seen Lucas get so mad...especially over a grade.
"I'm sorry, okay?" I said.
"Whatever." I heard Lucas mumble.

"He won't even talk to me Riley." I said as we got out of the lunch line.
"Wow. You must've gotten a bad grade."
I shot her a glare and she looked at the floor.
I saw Lucas sitting at one of the tables alone and I started walking towards him.
Riley quickly followed me, wanting to see the action.
"Hey cowboy." I said, trying to be funny.
Usually he would laugh or smile but not today.
I groaned. "Why won't you talk to me?"
"I don't want to." He simply said.
"You're being overdramatic, are you on your man period or something?" I said.
Lucas didn't find that funny and he just looked at me. "You need to learn to be more responsible Maya."
I was taken aback. "What are you a teacher? You can't me what to do."
Lucas was about to say something but Riley stopped us. "Okay stop!"
The bell rang and I walked away, feeling anger.
I turned to reason with Lucas but hes just being a jerk.
Over a stupid grade.
I walked to my next class and sat in a desk.

Riley's POV
I caught up with Lucas while he was walking to his 7th period. "Hey Lucas!"
He turned around and looked at me. "What?"
"Can you come over after school?" I asked.
"Is Maya gonna be there?" He asked right away.
"Nope." I lied.
He was hesitant and then slowly nodded his head. "See you after school."
I smiled with pleasure and tried to find Maya.
After a class period, I saw her at her locker.
"Hey Maya! Wanna come over after school?" I asked.
She shut her locker. "Is it just gonna be me?"
I nodded. "yep just you. Nobody else."
"Okay, I'll see you later." She said, heading to her next class.
Maybe my plan will actually work.

Maya's POV:
I was walking to Riley's house with Riley once school was over.
"Lucas is just so overdramatic! I swear." I mumbled.
I was basically complaining to her the entire walk.
"Please don't complain about Lucas this entire time." She said.
I sighed and tried thinking of positive things.
We reached Riley's apartment and Riley went to the fridge.
"Go to my room, I'll be there in a second." She said, motioning me to go.
I slowly walked off and went to Riley's bedroom, sitting on her bed.
I heard other voices in the house but I assumed it was just her parents,
I heard footsteps come my way and I looked at the door.
Except it wasn't Riley.... It was Lucas.
"Lucas?!"
"Maya?!"
"Why are you here?" We both said at the same time.
I suddenly heard the door shut and we both turned around.
I went over to it to find it was locked.
"Riley! Let me out!" I said.
I went over to her window and found it was locked too.
"She's good." I mumbled.
I sat by her window and just leaned on my hands.
Riley had tricked us.
This was a first.
It was pretty silent in the room for awhile until Lucas moved to the window.
He sat next to me and I scooted away from him a little.
"So it looks like we are stuck here until we make up." Lucas said.
I didn't say anything, not knowing what to say.
I played around with my hair, not making eye contact.
"I'm sorry I didn't do the project... And you're right I could be more responsible." I said, looking at the ground.
"No no I'm sorry... I was being a little harsh to you." Lucas said.
I looked up at him and smiled a little. "Just don't pick me as a partner next time."
Lucas shook his head. "Nah. I mean id rather have you then missy Bradford."
We both laughed and I found Lucas leaning in towards me.
I leaned back. "You know what, let's just high five instead."
He high fived me awkwardly and I looked away.
This went from 100-0 quickly.
"and I thought I was the awkward one." I heard Riley's voice.
I looked out the window to see her there.
"Thanks for spying, riles." I mumbled.
"Are you gonna let us out now?" Lucas asked.
Riley opened the window, and peered inside. "Okay fine. But remember the next time you fight, I'll do this."
