She was his favorite customer.
She came in everyday, at the same exact time, same spot.
Lucas friar worked at nighthawk diner as a part time job in high school.
He always worked in the afternoon right after school.
The door opened, making a jiggling sound as it opened.
Lucas looked up hopefully to see who it was.
It wasn't who he was expecting to see.
He sighed to himself, cleaning off the counter.
His boss came towards him. "Can you go and help those customers please?"
Lucas nodded, even though he didn't want to.
Usually he would be serving someone else right now.
He walked over and wrote down the customers drinks.
"I'll be right back." He said, closing his notepad.
He went over to the counter and started filling up two sodas.
He went back to them and handed them a drink, giving a smile.
Since they weren't ready to order, he walked back to the counter and sat.
Right as he did so, the door opened again.
He turned his head and saw the girl come inside.
The long blonde curls laying perfectly behind her.
Lucas suddenly felt himself smile and headed over to her.
"Hello there." He said.
The girl smiled. "Hello. Looks like my seat is taken."
She glanced at the mother and daughter at her usual table.
Lucas shrugged his shoulders. "It's fine. Right this way."
He led her to a new table and she sat down at the booth.
"Thank you." She said, smiling charmingly.
Lucas led back to his counter and said, "the usual?"
The girl nodded. "Yes, thanks."
He filled up a empty cup with iced tea and led it back over to her.
She took it and took a sip, swallowing it.
"How do you always remember my order?" She asked curiously.
Lucas leaned his arm on the table. "I never forget a pretty face."
The girl blushed, looking at the ground.
Lucas started to walk away but turned around. "What's your name?"
"Maya." She answered.
Maya. What a pretty name.
"Well I'm Lucas." Lucas said, wiping the counters.
He noticed Maya chuckling a little. "I noticed by your name tag."
Lucas looked down and blushed. "Yeah, I knew that."
Maya finished drinking the tea and stood up. "I have to go, but maybe we can hang out another time?"
Lucas nodded. "Same place, same time. I'll be here."
Maya smiled, placing the money on the counter in front of him. "Keep the change."
She walked out, leaving him alone in the diner since it was almost closing time.
He couldn't wait for tomorrow.
