It's been four years since Maya and Lucas got divorced.
Four dreadful years.
They thought they would stay together forever, stay in love forever.
But they didn't.
They would always fight over the littlest things and it got out of control.
Maya and Lucas had two kids together, each one of them going with one parent.
Maya, had their daughter Callie and Lucas had their son Carson.
That's just how it all worked out.
Their kids were just born when all the drama started, so they didn't know a thing.
Let's skip forward to present day, where their kids are starting kindergarten.

Maya's POV:
I finished pouring the cereal into the bowl and went up the stairs.I opened a door and poked my head inside. "Callie you can come down now."
Callie was sitting up in bed, already dressed and ready.
"Yay!" She said, running down the stairs.
She has been awake since 5 am.
She was pretty excited for her first day of kindergarten.
I went downstairs and found her eating the cereal quickly.
"Slow down honey, school doesn't start until 8." I said, sitting down.
She sighed. "I know but I wanna go now."
I took a bite out of toast. "Tell you what? Go watch Disney jr and I'll go get you when I'm ready."
She got off the chair and went into the living room.
I started thinking as I finished eating,
Being a single mother isn't easy, but I guess I've gotten used to it.
I was only 20 years old when my ex husband and I split.
Things just weren't working out, so we each took one kid and separated.
Lucas has Carson, the twin to Callie.
I sighed, putting my plate in the sink.
I wish i could see him, but I don't think I could face Lucas after four years,
I slipped on a pair of shoes and went into the living room. "Come on Callie let's go!"
She got up and grabbed her backpack.
We went out the front door and headed towards her kindergarten.
~~~~~~~~
-with Lucas-
I was standing out a bedroom door."Come on buddy it'll be fun." I said.
I heard movement from inside. "I don't want to go."
"You'll make lots of friends."
"What if nobody wants to be friends with me?"
I sighed, looking down at the locked doorknob.
"If you go to school today and everyday I'll give you that game you want."
The door opened slowly. "Okay."
Carson walked out the door and leaned against the wall.
I didn't have the money to afford a video game but whatever works.
I went down the stairs and grabbed into the cabinet.
"Here's your breakfast." I said, handing it to carson.
