Chapter 4

*second person p.o.v.*

"Ready? Start!" Kakashi shouted. You got up and hid in the tree while Naruto stayed where he was. You hid your chakra and watched quietly. Naruto charged at Kakashi but came to a sudden stop when Kakashi reached for his book. 'Make-out paradise? Kakashi, why am i not surprised.' You said in your head. You sigh and sat down on the tree trunk. You peeked out of the tree just to see Naruto kicking and punching Kakashi. Except he missed each time. Naruto headed for another punch but was met with nothing but air. Kakashi was behind him with a fire-style handsign. '

'Naruto get out of there!' You thought while standing up. "One thousand years of death!" Kakashi said while sricking his finders up Naruto's butt and flinging him into the water. You didn't want to watch anymore as you sat back onto the tree trunk lost in thought. 'What can we do with Kakashi's strength? He's a jonin for goodness sakes. No one could beat him one on one...wait...that's it! We could work together and take the bells! That'll work! But, only if everyone would want to cooperate.' You thought. You quietly jumped down from the tree, looking for Naruto, Sasuke or Sakura.

Finally you found Sakura. "Hey! Sakura!" You whisper. Sakura turns to you. "Oh it's just you Y/n." She sighs relieved. You crouch down beside her. "Kakashi sensei is too strong. No one could beat him on a one v.s. one so we could work together to take him down." You suggest. "Sorry Y/n but i have to look for Sasuke." She says walking away. You sigh and look for Sasuke. "Sasuke!" You sa walking up to him.

"What?" He asks annoyed. "Kakashi sensei is too strong for one of us to beat but if we work together we could get the bells!" You answer. "No, everyone will just slow me down. I can beat him on my own." He says walking away. You groan out in frustration. "Guess i have to ask Naruto." You sigh walking away to find Naruto.

"Naruto!" You whisper shout. "Oh! Y/n! Help me get untied!" He says wiggling in the rope. You take out your katana and slice the ropes, Naruto falling out. "Thanks!" He says standing up. "Wait Naruto! We should work together so we can beat Kakashi sensei! One of us can't beat him!" You plead. "Sorry Y/n but i need to do this on my own." He says walking away. You stare in shock and flop onto the ground. "Ugh!" You shout. You got up and head back into the forest.

What you didn't know was that Kakashi was tailing you the whole time watching. You sat back down and thought of a plan to get the bells. 'Ugh i can't think of anything. Y'know what? I'm just gonna go fight him and see what happens. Kakashi sensei is unpredictble.' You stood up and searched for your sensei. You found him standing and reading his book. You quietly took out your katana and ran towards him.

You swung your katana down but he blocked it with a kunai. "There you are, Y/n! I was just about to look for you." He said while pushing himself back. "Well i guess i found you." You said while charging at him again. He threw kunai and shuriken at you while you did the handsigns for your lightning armor. "Lightning style, lightning armor!" You shouted.

The familiar tingly sensation spread over your body, shielding the kunai and shuriken. Kakashi's eyes widened in surprise. You charged at him, again your katana swung down but he blocked it. You took your blade back and threw a kick his way. He blocked it. You threw a punch. He dodged it. You kept on going while he was distracted, you reached for the bells. Your hand took grasp of a bell, you pulling one off. You put the bell in your pocket and used your teleportation jutsu. Poof. You hid behind a tree looking as Kakashi looked around confused. You sigh in relief.

RINGGGGG

*timeskip*

"Your stomachs are growling." Kakashi said to Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. You were just fine. Afterall, you had breakfast. "By the way, about this exercise...well! There's no need for you guys to go back to the academy." Kakashi said. "What? All i did was lay unconscious." Sakura says. Everyone starts celebrating except you. It didn't make any sense. "I'm dropping you all except Y/n from the program!" Kakashi announced.

Everyone stopped. "What did Y/n do to stay then?" Naruto asks. You took out the bell and showed it to them. "W-what?! You managed to get a bell?!" Sakura shouts. You roll your eyes. "Yes i did. But this exercise wasn't about JUST getting the bells." You state. "Then what was it about?" Sasuke asks. You turn your head to Kakashi sensei, expecting an answer.

"Some of you guys don't have the qualities of a ninja." Sasuke didn't take the answer well and headed straight for Kakashi sensei. Kakashi shuts him down and sits on Sasuke. "Hey! Don't sit on Sasuke like he's a bug!" Sakura yells. "You think being a ninja is easy? Why do you think you're doing this exercise in teams?" Kakashi asks. You raise your hand.

"Y/n. Go ahead." You put your hand down and start to speak. "Teamwork. Wasn't it obvious? None of us could beat a high level jonin on our own. That's exactly why i asked each and every one of you guys if we could work together because if we all did, we could've beaten Kakashi sensei." You say.

Everyone looks at you shocked. "Why are you all shocked? Naruto. You thought you had to beat Kakashi sensei all on your own. Sasuke. You thought you were the greatest out of all of us and thought you could beat Kakashi sensei on your own without our help. Sakura. All you cared about was Sasuke and you didn't even try to fight Kakashi sensei." You explain.

"All we had to do was work together?" Sakura questions. "Exactly. But it's too late even if you realize now. Y/n's right. If you four worked together you might've been able to take the bells. Well it's too bad." Kakashi sensei says. "Why use teamwork? There were only three bells. That would lead to group conflict." Sakura explains. "This is a test set up to purposely place you against each other. It's under just such conditions where one's own interests aren't the issue. The intention was to select those who could prioritize teamwork." Kakashi sensei kept on explaining things about teamwork until, "Sakura! Kill Y/n and Naruto or else Sasuke dies!" Kakashi shouted.

"This is what could happen. On top of having one of you taken hostage, you're faced with two impossible choices and will end up being killed. Every mission is a life-risking assignment. Look at this. The many names engraved on this stone...these are all ninjas who were K.I.A." Kakashi said walking up to the stone. "Yeah! I'm going to get my name engraved on there too!" Naruto shouts. You look down sadly. "Naruto... K.I.A. stands for killed in action." You say sadly.

"Oh..." Naruto says, realizing what that meant. "This is a memorial. The names of some of my friends were also engraved on here..." Kakashi says looking down at the memorial stone. 'Obito and Rin huh?' You thought. Kakashi turns around. "I'll give you guys one more chance! However, after noon it'll be a harsher battle to take the bells. Those who want to take on the challenge can eat lunch. However, don't let Naruto have any. It's punishment for trying to eat the lunch on your own. If someone let's him eat...that person will be disqualified on the spot. I make the rules here, got it?!" Kakashi asks.

"But didn't Y/n take the bell?" Naruto asks. "Y/n doesn't have to take the test again. Unless she wants to." He shrugs. "I'm good." You said. And with that Kakashi poofed to God knows where. Everyone takes their lunch. You opened the bento and without hesitation you shoved a mouthful of food into Naruto's mouth. "Y/n?" Naruto says after he swallowed. Sakura looks at you weirdly.

"I'm not retaking the test so i guess this doesn't count, but i'm doing you all a favour. If Naruto was hungry during the test, he would deem useless. And why would you care? It's not like you're the one taking the risk. If i get disqualified it was nice knowing everyone." You say as you kept on feeding Naruto. Not long after, Sasuke and Sakura feed him since you made a good point. "YOU! You defied the rules so that means you know what's coming..." Kakashi sensei yells while doing handsigns. Clouds covered the once blue sky, with lightning striking every now and then.

"But! But! But! You said sensei! These guys..." Naruto says looking at Sasuke. "We're a four-man squad right?" Sasuke says. Sakura sits up and says, "That's right! The four of us are one so...". This time you decided to say something. "Yeah. What they said." You said not wanting to say something as cheesy. "That's right!" Naruto said repeatedly. "The four of you are one eh? You pass." Kakashi says. "Eh???" Sakura and Naruto say in question.

"You. Pass." Kakashi repeated slowly.
