Chapter 27

*second person p.o.v.*

Feathers started falling from the air, making people fall asleep. It was genjutsu. You looked at Sakura and nodded. "Release!" You and Sakura said at the same time, releasing the genjutsu. You heard an explosion and snapped your head to where the hokage and kazekage were seated. You watched as Anbu zipped passed you and went to the hokage. The sand ninja protecting the 'kazekage' went forward but were stopped by the anbu member with the white cloak. "What's going on?!" Sakura asked. "I'm not sure." You replied. You looked at Kakashi and Guy sensei, but they looked just as confused as you were. You looked back to where the hokage was to see him in some sort of barrier and with a kunai held to his neck. Kakashi and Guy sensei were about to head to lord hokage but were stopped by an anbu member. Or so everyone thought. There were sound ninja in hiding that came out to stop them. "To think our enemy was disguising themselves as anbu members..." Guy said.

You looked back in the barrier and saw Orochimaru. "That damn snake guy. He's probably after Sasuke." You mumbled while clenching your fists in anger. You look over down in the arena to see Sasuke not there. Genma was there fighting a sand ninja. "Sasuke!" Sakura says from beside you. You then look up to see two sound ninjas in the air, aiming for you and Sakura. You jumped infront of Sakura and slashed both of the ninjas with your katana. "Y/n! Sakura! Stay there, me and Guy will reduce the amount of enemies, try to stay out of the fight!" Kakashi said as he went after the sound ninjas. You sighed and sat down. "Thank you y/n." Sakura thanked. "No, it's fine." You dismissed. You and Sakura sat and watched as Kakashi and Guy beat the sound ninja. Kakashi jumps infront of the both of you. "Sakura! It was worth teaching you genjutsu survival training during the genin exam. So, release the genjutsu and wake up Naruto and Shikamaru! Y/n, cover Sakura while she releases the jutsu for them! Naruto will be happy once he wakes up. He'll be happy there's a mission for him to take part in. It's the first A-rank mission since the land of waves." Kakashi ordered while using a kunai to cut his thumb.

"A-rank?" You mumbled. Kakashi explained what you were to do and did hand signs to summon a dog. "As for the rest, Pakkun will track down Sasuke!" Kakashi said. You looked at the dog and smiled. "Could it be that the fifth member is a puppy?!" Sakura asked. "He's so cute..." you mumbled. Pakkun walked up to you and leaned in towards your face. "Hey! Little girl! Don't be calling me a cute puppy!" Pakkun said. "Alright. Sakura, release the genjutsu on Naruto and Shikamaru! Y/n, protect Sakura!" Kakashi ordered. Sakura nodded and crawled to where Naruto and Shikamaru were. You and Pakkun followed Sakura as she released the jutsu on Naruto. Naruto woke up and rubbed his eyes in confusion. You saw as a kunai came flying towards you and took out your katana and blocked it just in time. "Stay down." You told Naruto sternly. Sakura went over to Shikamaru to find out he was only fake sleeping.

A sound ninja went to attack Naruto but Guy pushed him into a wall, making a hole. "Now, i'll announce the mission. As soon as you heard what the mission is, go through the hole. Track down Sasuke, join up and stop him! Then await next orders in a safe place." Kakashi explained. "What happened to Sasuke?!" Naruto asked. "I'll tell you the reason en route!" Sakura said as she took Naruto out of the hole. "Let's go!" You shouted to Shikamaru and Pakkun. Pakkun bit Shikamaru's hand and led him as you followed behind them. You five all ran into a forest, looking for Sasuke. "That Sasuke, getting all impatient!" Naruto says. "So, why am i pulled into this?! This is such a drag!" Shikamaru said. You glanced at Shikamaru. "Everything is such a drag for you, Shikamaru!" You shout back. "It can't be helped! It's Kakashi sensei's orders!" Sakura said. "This way!" Pakkun said as he turned right. You all followed Pakkun and also turned right.

*timeskip when you all caught up with Sasuke*

Naruto went in a kicked Gaara across the face. You and Sakura jumped down next to Sasuke. "Sakura! You help Sasuke, me and Naruto will cover for you guys!" You shout while taking your katana out, in stance. Sasuke looked up at you. "Y-Y/n..." he whispered. You looked back at him and smiled. "Don't worry Sasuke! You just lay down for now, using too much chakra could affect you even more. Just don't worry." You reassured. Sasuke felt his heart beat faster, he felt safe and happy in your presence. Your aura calmed him. His thought stopped as he felt pain shoot through his neck once more. Sasuke cried out in pain. "Kakashi sensei said there's nothing to worry about with this bruise! So tell me..." Sasuke trailed off. "Sakura!" Naruto says. "What?!" Sakura asks annoyed. "This guy...who is he?!" Naruto asks. "He's that guy called Gaara." Pakkun said. "What?!" You mumbled in shock. 'So, he's a jinchuriki? Poor guy. He has the one tails sealed away in him.' You thought. "Hey girl!" Pakkun shouted. You turned to face him.

"I want you to know that i'm not the fighting type!" Pakkun said. You gave him a close eyed smile. "Ah, don't worry, Pakkun. I got you. I won't let anything happen to you guys, i promise." You said softly. 'Even in a situation like this...she still can smile and reassure us, even if she's scared herself.' Pakkun thought. Pakkun shook his head and turned to Sakura and Sasuke. "In any case, i need to get out of here and somehow take Sasuke with me to where Kakashi sensei is!" Pakkun exclaimed. You heard Sasuke from behind you cry out in pain. "Darn." You whispered. Naruto turned around. "L-let's run everyone!" Naruto shouted. All of a sudden, Gaara jumped towards Sasuke. You jumped infront of Sakura, Sasuke and Pakkun with your katana out infront of you. "Out of the way!" Gaara shouted. He shot out his giant arm and slammed you into a tree. You cried out in pain as your katana fell to the ground with a thud. "Y/n!" Naruto, Sakura and Pakkun shouted. "I did promise i would protect you guys, right?" You said smiling. Gaara squeezed his giant hand tighter. You cried out in pain once more. "Use your lightning armor!" Sakura shouted. "I c-can't. There isn't enough space. The hand is b-blocking most of my body and my lightning armor n-needs to cover my whole body in order to w-work." You choked out.

Naruto jumped over to Sasuke and Sakura, taking them both away from Gaara. "Darn! Darn! What the heck should we do?!" Naruto said in frustration. Temari on a tree not so far away from you looked down. "Why would she jump infront of that Gaara...?" She wondered. "Because...." She looked at you. "As long as i save my friends, i'm fine. I promised i would protect them. So, here i am now." You said while coughing out after. Your eyes wanted to shut since you slamming into the tree almost knocked you out. "Y/n! Keep your eyes opened! Stay awake for a little while longer!" Sakura shouted. "But i'm tired." You mumbled. "It doesn't matter if you're tired or not! You need to stay awake!" Sakura shouted again. "S-sorry Sakura..." you said as your eyes fluttered shut. "Y/n!" Naruto shouted. 'Y/n...' Sasuke thought while looking at you.
