It would be a lie if you said that you liked being here, that you liked how close to your birth home this mission was based. It wasn't necessarily because you cared so much for the countries, but it was harder to suppress the memories while walking in them. Sam and James didn't have the best time either last time they were here, so it almost felt like a curse that the three of you had to go back. James had been nicer towards you since yesterday, or maybe he's only been quieter. You couldn't really put a finger on it.

"Sometimes I wonder what's happening inside of his cyborg brain." Sam whispered over to you. Your eyes was glued to the front as you were the one driving the car, still a little tiny smile appeared on your lips "Oh, I think we all have some questions we would like to ask, but sadly he doesn't answer nearly as good and fast as google." you replied looking back at James through the mirror. "I'm right here guys" he mumbled in annoyance and you parked outside the prison.

"So are you guys ready?" you asked and leaned back in your seat. The question caused the both of them to look at you with a confused. It made you realise that the three of you very rarely had time to stop up and think about what you were doing. You didn't enjoy your time with Dr. Raynor, but maybe it wouldn't hurt that much if the three of you talked a little bit more?

"I have never met Baron Helmut Zemo, for me he is just another super villain, but for you guys it's personal. James, he used you to do his dirty work and split up the whole avengers, those were your teammates Sam. Helmut Zemo is not exactly a causal villain" you corrected and instead of looking confused at you, both now looked away. It was clear that you had hit a spot that none of them were really comfortable talking about. It was because of this split, that Tony was offering you a job. They needed people. In the start of working there, it didn't go a day without somebody mentioning something related to it. You weren't there when it happened, but even you had feelings about it. If Tony was watching over you know, you are pretty sure he would try to throw a beer bottle or two over at you. He would never have supported this, but you tried to tell yourself that this was just one simple conversation to lure some information from the guy, nothing more.

"I'm going in alone, meet me at the backside of the building in ten" James mumbled uncomfortably and didn't even leave us room to ask questions before he was gone. Sam looked over at me "I don't like that." he mumbled and you had to agree.

The two of you went out of the car, in the building and followed James' descriptions. It wasn't that you didn't trust James, more the fact that you didn't know him. Steve told you everything about how James was a changed man, a better man, but around all the hypocrisy of the situation you would lie if you said that you didn't feel more comfortable with the Winter Soldier. You knew the soldier better and you knew you could trust him. James was different. James had his own thoughts.

"Sam, why are we here?" you asked and walked into a dark room.

"Don't ask me, Bucky said to meet us here." Sam said and turned the lights on.

"I can't believe you trust him" you whispered looking around in the room.

"So when are you gonna tell me?" Sam said as he looked you up and down. "You and Bucky clearly have a past together, do you think I'm blind?" he added and walked towards you. You looked up at him surprised. How could he know? Of course it was the times James stupidly enough forgot and spoke, but those were tiny moments which quickly got turned down. You looked down at your feets and bit your lip. You knew this was your chance to tell Sam the truth and you cared way too much about him to lose it.

"You know how you can't find things on me in the systems, the many aliases and the fact that Tony kept me all secret and that?" you said and looked up at him. He gave you a small nod, giving you permission to continue. You let your arms go around his neck. "That's because of my past" you said with a little smile on your face "I ran away when I was really young, and became a bounty hunter, which I at some point became really good at" your eyes didn't let go of Sam's. You wanted to see his reaction, you wanted to understand him, but most importantly you wanted him to accept that this was your past, not who you were now.

"I became fearless, and cared less about morals, which is ironic since I ran away from my father because I didn't agree with him. I became very violent, like killing innocent people violently, only to prove I was my own person and not my fathers." you tilted your head searching for words. You could already see how hurt Sam felt in his eyes.

"Y/n I'm sorry"

"That's when I met the Winter Soldier. It's just a couple of days ago since I met James Bucky Barnes." you cleared your throat. Sam's hands was now around your body. You couldn't help but think of it as a good sign, he didn't let go of you even if he knew what you had done. He looked away.

"If I knew your history I would never let him join this mission." Sam said as he looked back at you. A little smile appeared on your face and the second you opened your mouth to answer somebody new was entering the room.

"Okay guys, let me just walk you through a hypothetical. Can I walk you through a hypothetical?"
