50. Where is Karli?

Did you ignore Zemo right now? Absolutely. Sam and Bucky knew something was up with the two of you, and you really didn't want to give them more reasons to either doubt your judgement or simply just tease you. It wasn't fair to only blame them for why you two weren't talking either. You were still not trusting Zemo and the way he reacted when you mentioned who your father was, definitely didn't help. It didn't matter that he looked ridiculously good in that silly fur coat he was wearing and how handsome he looked while simply just walking in the street. You weren't gonna let him go that easy. Zemo slowed down, so the two of you were walking side by side

"It was very sweet of you to defend me" he said with a little smile on his lips.

You couldn't really understand if he was trying to make a joke or not. The last thing Zemo did before Bucky came was basically throwing a candle holder at you, blaming you and everyone like you for Sokovia's fall, so if he thought he could just roll up and act all cool he was wrong.

"Don't be smug, I didn't defend you. After the mission I will personally push you into your prison cell with a candle holder" you said, still not looking at him. Yes, were you still a bit hurt about what he did? Of course, and you had all the right to be. Zemo didn't know how to act around you anymore. In some ways he felt like he didn't know you anymore, like the two of you were strangers. At the same time, he craved your attention and affection. He wanted to be by your side, but his mind and heart were conflicting.

"Y/n..."

"Stop it Zemo. You are not allowed to talk to me" you interrupted him. Your tone was strict with no room for misunderstanding. He noticed how tense you were when the two of you were talking. How you never looked at him and your tone was without emotion. What annoyed him even more, was the fact that you were only like this with him. He saw from the moment he walked out of the bathroom a new woman in front of him. She was confident and happier than ever before, but you wouldn't let him in. Without a trace of Karli, the four of you were going looking at a building where she or her people were supposed to have been.

"I'll have a look around, the two of you have your eyes on him" Sam said when we got to the spot. Really Sam? Bucky, Zemo and y/n, together? Such a smart idea after the discussion the two of you had in the apartment. You didn't wanna argue, so you easily nodded and stood back. Zemo looked up at you, checking if it was any chance for the two of you to talk before he shook his head. "I'll be out of your way," he said gently.

Seconds later the man started to sing as he walked towards the kids. "This, I repeat this is the man you took a bullet for" Bucky said looking down at you. You knew that this was something he wouldn't give up on. "Hadn't been for that bullet, I probably wouldn't have realised that I needed my powers. You could argue that it was a saving grace" you said and nodded your head from one side to the others. "Do we trust a grown up man who walks over to kids singing and giving out candy?" Bucky's tone was so judgemental. You knew where he was going with this. You smiled weakly "Zemo is many things, but he won't hurt them. He was a father after all" you reminded him. Bucky started to laugh as he looked away from you. You pinched him in his arm "What?" you asked annoyed.

"I find it very interesting how you keep defending this man, just because you had sexual intercourse"

If you ever had said that you had been angry or annoyed at Bucky before, you didn't mean it. This, what he just said, took the cake. You were furious and you knew you couldn't do anything because you were in public. You took a deep breath. Hearing Bucky just say the word 'sexual intercourse' felt very wrong, and it was very clear to you that the person who said it was Bucky from the 1940s and not from this decade. You looked at his arm, before you carefully with small movements with your fingers started to alter it. Bucky's eyes popped out the second he felt his arm getting twisted.

"Stop it!" he said and tried to push you with his other arm, but you didn't stop until Sam seconds later showed up. You smiled innocently up to them "any news?" you asked with your soft voice. Bucky was looking at you like you were the devil self. The two of them started to talk about how it all felt like we were left with loose ends, but that didn't last for long. Zemo came walking back with better clues than you thought he could get. "Donya is having a memorial right now, the kid will show us the way" he said as a little girl came walking over to you. Did it feel wrong to include a little kid into a very dangerous mission? Yes. Did you have a choice, no. You walked out of the building and out to the streets, where two men you had wished to never see again showed up.

"Karli Morgenthau is too dangerous for you guys to be pulling this shit"
