"The only reason why I'm putting you to bed, and not against the wall is because you're hurt, okay?" He said with a strict tone, but you could see his hidden smile underneath.
He carefully laid you down in your bed and sat down on the side of the bed. Everything in your life had been turned upside down and as absurd as it sounds, you felt lucky to have Zemo by your side. Were you glad he didn't do as you told and left Irka's place to get you out of prison? Yes. Ofcourse it was an incredble stupid and risky move for him to make, but now that you laid here, you were thankful he didnt listen.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked, as he could see you draft into your own thoughts. It was something you did often but he only thought it was cute to see you in your own little bubble. You slowly sat up. You took a hand around one of the braces and dragged him closer to you so you faced each other.
"About how lucky I am to have you by my side" you whispered with a smile on your lips. You didn't care that you should've rested, right now you only wanted to be as much as you could with Zemo. You knew that the two of you were running for a limited time. He smiled as you came closer to him. He couldn't keep the distance anymore and took his hands around your hips and carefully lifted you on his lap. He tilted his head.
"And how stupid you were for paying 25 million dollar to get me out" you said with a more serious tone.
Oh, he had only been waiting for you to criticize him. He was not about to let you go to strangers, especially not when he had the money to help you. He knew it wasn't a small amount of money, and yes it was a big risk for him financially as Sokovia wasn't exactly on the rise, but he was going back to prison anyway, so the least thing he could do was getting you out. He deserved prison, you didn't.
"Zemo, what did you think? I know your financial situation and what you did is absolutely insane and irresponsible" you continued. He took a deep sigh and laid his back down on the mattress. He looked back up at you.
"I'm not gonna need them in prison," he said shortly.
You looked so beautiful at the top of him. Honestly, you looked beautiful at any time or place but he had to admit that you never looked more beautiful than when he was able to have you close. If this was the only moment you got together, it was worth every penny. This was gonna be his last time out in the world and he didn't wanna do it without you. He wanted to cherish this time with you as a memory he could hold close when things got rough. Zemo didn't want you to feel like you owe him anything, not even your time with him. You shouldn't feel guilty for the things he had done is his past that had led him to this situation. He wanted you to feel loved, but he knew he could never give you the love you deserved from a prison cell. He leaned back up and put his hands around your head.
"And we still have a mission we can't finish without you.. And you know how I am" he brushed away his feelings, with a fake smile on his lips. Truth is, he didn't care about the mission like before, but he had no right to lead you on to anything else than a prison cell.
"You don't leave your work unfinished" you mumbled a bit disappointed, but covered in a little smile. You moved away from his lap, sitting down beside him on the bed instead. For some reason, you kept thinking it was possible for you to be together with Zemo, but Zemo reminded you of the reality. You shook your head and stared out to the room.
"Where are we with the mission?" you asked low.
Zemo wasn't dumb, he saw how you reacted. He wishes he didn't have to disappoint you like that. The two of you clearly liked each other, but kept acting like it was a far distant thing like teenagers. He didn't wanna do it anymore. The only thing he wanted was to be with you, be an 'us' instead of playing these games trying to protect ourselves from getting hurt. He tilted his head and looked down at his hands.
"Only lead we have is that we might think, without any clarification, that she is in New York. We have no clue about what she is doing there or when she will make her next move," he said. Zemo couldn't even look at you when he knew what he had done to you.
You nodded weakly before you stood up looking for your things. You were tired of wearing this nightgown and needed a change. Zemo looked at you confused, but knew better than to ask any questions. You changed into a pair of jeans and t-shirt. If you could say it yourself, this was very much a hippie look and you couldn't help yourself wanting to figure out who had taken over the room. Zemo laughed low, and you looked back at him confused.

"Why? You don't like it?" you said and looked at yourself in the mirror.
"No no, I like it. Looks like you gonna fight supremacists, so really, it's perfect." Zemo stood up and walked over to you, standing behind you. He laid his head on your shoulder and looked at you with a smile.
"But where do you think you are going?" he whispered into your neck, wrapping his hands around you. If he thought he could lure you back to bed with some kisses he was wrong.
"Get the boys," you said and clapped his hands away with a smile on your lips. You walked towards the door, opened it and looked back at Zemo.
