"Okay, but you promise not to judge?"
Oh, no words could describe how nervous you were to show Zemo your apartment. You never cared about how the place was before, it was only Pepper, Sam, Rhodey, or strangers that you never saw again who walked in and out of your apartment. While Zemo's opinion actually mattered. You had never regretted more turning down Pepper's wish to go shopping for it any more than now. The apartment itself was beautiful, a loft with massive windows you got the natural light from and more than big enough for one person, but it was totally empty. Only a few paintings from Morgan, whiskey bottles, and probably some dead flowers from Pepper that you might have forgotten to throw in the bin before you left for the mission. It didn't help that Zemo was a rich man who cared deeply about style. He laughed and took the keys from you.
"For the 100th time, I don't care how it looks. Long as you have a mattress we will be fine," he said with a cheeky smile on his lips. You rolled your eyes and let him unlock the door. You took a deep breath as he walked into the apartment, turning on the lights. No matter how much he acted like he didn't care, you knew that he was gonna dislike it enough to make remarks about it. Zemo wouldn't be Zemo if he didn't, and you were right.
"Y/n it's beautiful, but it's empty," He said confused.
You turned around and walked into the apartment, taking the keys away from Zemo on the way. You didn't know what to say, so you didn't say anything. You went to the window and took up the dead flowers Pepper had given to you before the mission and threw them in the bin. You picked up two whiskey bottles that laid right with the mattress and put them up on the kitchen counter. You went to the fridge and turned it on again. After tomorrow, you were pretty sure you were gonna stay in New York for a while, so why not prepare for it.
Zemo looked at you, instantly regretting what he had said. You had warned him about how empty, or 'unlived' your apartment was, but he thought that you maybe were just being dramatic because you thought he had a 'high' standard because of his background. The place itself was incredible, and he couldn't help but wonder why you lived like this. He saw how uncomfortable you got and couldn't help but feel ashamed of himself. He shook his head and walked over to you, grabbing your hips from behind."Little bird, I didn't mean it like that," he said and kissed your neck. He could feel how tense you were in your body, still not trusting that he didn't care. That's when he got an idea. He wiggled you a bit from side to side, laughing as he turned you around so you were looking out at the whole apartment. "You know what we're gonna do?" he whispered in your ear. Now even you couldn't be mad anymore. You laughed low "What do you wanna do Zemo?" you asked, giving him the attention he so badly wanted.
"You're gonna order us some food, lay down in bed, and get your laptop up, then we're gonna look for stuff for the apartment together," he whispered with a smile on his lips against your ear.
You immediately turned around so you were facing him. He wanted to do what? Did you hear him correctly or were you just being delusional again? It's only been hours since he referenced your father as 'our father', and you were still unsure if was really saying that or if it was wishful thinking.
He laughed low when he saw how shocked you got by his words. You had been so honest in front of the boys, so now he felt like it was his time, to be honest with you. He easily lifted you up on the kitchen counter, his hands on your hips as he stood in between your legs. He laid his forehead against yours, simply smiling and looking into your gorgeous eyes.
"I like you Y/n. Let's act like we don't know what's happening after tomorrow. Just for one night, let's act like... I don't know... a couple," he whispered against your lips.
Okay, his deep raspy voice was easy to distract you, but this time you were sure that you heard him right. Your heart was racing and you had to work hard to not tear up in front of him. It wasn't because you were sad, but you could've never been happier to hear him say those words. You wrapped your hands around his neck as a smile grew up on your lips, nodding your head. Zemo started to laugh, he could see how close you were to tear up.
"I would love that," you whispered against his lips, and as much as you tried to hold it back, you couldn't help but let a tear fall down your cheeks. You started to laugh with Zemo before you leaned into his lips, kissing him passionately. This time you didn't even stop Zemo when he slipped his tongue in. The two of you left no room for space between you, as the two of you shared the same breath.
"Okay, we need to stop right now if we want to get some shopping done for our apartment," Zemo said, almost blushing as he gently stopped the makeout session the two of you were having. You laughed low and gave him a nod. You picked up the phone and went looking for food.
