Rohan has been having me mine, says I have to know my material, how to get it, how it's formed underground from the lava before I can work with it. He approved of Yunobo watching over me since he's a good, dedicated miner. Fugo, as he's been an apprentice longer, will check up on us on occasion and see how we're going.
I can't do any smithing yet, but Rohan was worried about if I was strong enough to use the tools. He teaches some children who are interested in blacksmithing and has small tools for them, and I can use those just fine!
When I told Rohan I couldn't stay for too long, and that perhaps I should just learn how to sharpen tools, he said that I won't be able to sharpen any weapons properly unless I know how the weapon is made, where it's weak spots are and such. As a compromise he'd only teach me about hylian swords, which are but kitchen knives to the gorons. It's kind of funny hearing my traveler's sword being called a knife. Maybe I should try using it for cooking some time, make a vegetable soup for Bossa Nova and I, have a heart truffle or two, swift carrots, and I think a fortified pumpkin would going in well too but I don't have any of these and now I want to eat again. And I just had dinner too.
Bossa Nova likes to follow us as we mine. He stays away from the lava and usually ends up finding a spot to lie down and just watch us. Sometimes he'll help us carry the oar back.
I can't work with it yet but I've gotten to see how the oar is turned into metals. It's basically melted down into lava, it's like this thick, bright reddish-orange liquid. It's weird to think rock can be liquid. I wonder if the zoras' do something similar when working with crystal at some point.
Even with the potions is so hot and sweltering here. I'm getting rather sick for feeling sweat roll off me all the time, and my clothes sticking to me. I guess even gems don't stand a chance against the lava they come from. It's also hard to sleep. I usually end up going for walks. I recently started taking Bossa Nova with me, he seems to enjoy it.
I think we'll go for another walk tonight.
