The Tardis appeared in Roald Dahl Pass, Cardiff and the Doctor and Galaxy worked around the console while Martha and Astro watched.

"Cardiff." The Doctor said, smiling.

"Cardiff?" Martha asked, not sure why Cardiff was so important. "It's built on a rift in time and space, like the fault lines in California, San Andreas and the rifts bleed energy. Every now and then we need to open the engines, soak up the energy and use it as fuel." Galaxy explained.

"So, it's a pit stop." Martha said, nodding. "Exactly." The Doctor and Galaxy said at the same time. "The rift's been active so it should take twenty seconds." Astro said. "Wait a minute. They had an Earthquake in Cardiff a couple of years ago. Was that you?"

"Bit of trouble with the Slitheen" Galaxy said. "A long time ago. Lifetimes. I was a different man back then." The Doctor said and the Tardis whirred, "Finito. All powered up."

Galaxy smiled when she saw Jack on the monitor screen but it faded when she saw the Doctor start up the Tardis when he saw him as well.

"Doctor!" She shouted, knowing what he was doing but he ignored her.

The Tardis started sparking and shifting around severely. They were thrown to the ground, side to side as the Tardis began to spin through space.

"What's that?" Martha asked as she clung to the console.

The Doctor got up and ran to the monitor again, changing the settings to show up their statues, Galaxy appearing next to him and they both looked at the information the Tardis was providing.

"We're accelerating into the future. The year one billion. Five billion. Five trillion. Fifty trillion? What? The year one hundred trillion? That's impossible." He said, both of them having panic on their faces. "Why? What happens then?"

"We're going to the end of the universe." Astro answered and the Tardis landed with a thud. "Well, we've landed." The Doctor said. "So, what's out there?" Martha asked. "I don't know." He said. "Astro did you get that? We probably won't hear him say that again." Galaxy joked.

"Not even the Time Lords came this far. We should leave. We should go. We should really, really go." The Doctor said then looked at them with a grin and they ran out of the Tardis and the place looked dark, cold and was quiet.

"Oh my God!" Martha shouted before running over to a body lying on the ground. "Jack!" Galaxy called as she walked over with the Doctor though he stayed a few feet away while Galaxy stepped closer. "Can't get a pulse. Hold on, you've got that medical kit thing." Martha said, running into the Tardis.

"Hello again. Oh, I'm sorry." The Doctor said as he made a face. Martha ran out with the medical kit in hand. "Here we go. Get out of the way." She said as she moved the Doctor out the way and knelt next to Jack, "It's a bit odd, though. Not very hundred trillion. That coat's more like Word War II."

"I think he came with us." The Doctor said. "How d'you mean? From Earth?" Martha asked. "He was clinging to the outside of the Tardis all the way through the Vortex." Galaxy said as she frowned at the Doctor who shrugged and she rolled her eyes and looked at Jack, "That's just like him though."

"What, do you know him?" Martha asked. "I was with him before I was reunited with the Doctor here." Galaxy told her and Martha realised this was the Jack she had told her about before. "But he's...I'm sorry, there's no heartbeat. There's nothing."

"Give it a minute." Galaxy said and Jack gasped and grabbed Martha, who screamed. "Oh, so much for me. It's all right. Just breathe deep. I've got you." She said. "Captain Jack Harkness. And who are you?"
