Sick and Tired

Chapter 42

Cristina gets out of surgery late at night. She's been working for the past 18 hours and hasn't had a chance to take a break for even a minute.

She goes to the locker room to change out of her scrubs. She grabs her phone from her locker and sees she has a missed call. She wonders who called her. She sees she has a voicemail and starts to play it.

She hears someone sobbing for a minute before the voice says "I was going to tell you I ate 100% but I guess you don't care anymore."All of a sudden she feels sick to her stomach.

"Are you okay Cristina? You got pale all of a sudden." George asked her.

"Meredith called me and I missed her call and she was sobbing and thinks I don't care about her anymore." Cristina starts to run out of the room and runs right into Dr Bailey.

"Yang this isn't a playground. Stop running."

"I'm sorry. It's Meredith." Cristina said.

"What happened? Is she okay? I haven't been paged. Dr Bailey said.

"I don't know what happened. All I know is I missed a call from her and she left me a voicemail saying that I don't care about her anymore and she was sobbing."

"Okay let's go up there and check on her. I haven't been paged so that's weird." Dr Bailey said.

They get up to the psych floor and they see that Meredith is sound asleep so they go over to the nurses station.

"Hi can you tell me how Meredith is doing? Dr Yang got a voicemail from Meredith and she was sobbing." Dr Bailey asked the nurse.

The nurse nods. "Yes, I was the nurse with her. She is currently sedated right now. She had a hard time after dinner."

"What happened?" Dr Bailey asked.

"She finished her meal tonight and asked to call Dr Yang. Something happened but I'm not sure what and she was sobbing and she ran off after she finished with the phone call. She started running but I don't know where she was trying to get to because she then collapsed. I brought her back to her room and started an IV. She woke up after a few minutes and was getting hysterical and wouldn't calm down so I made the decision to sedate her. She's been out ever since."

Cristina looked over at Dr Bailey and said, "This was all my fault. If I only answered the phone then tbis wouldn't have happened."

"You don't know that for sure. Something else could've set off if this hadn't happened. You know she's extremely sensitive right now."

"Yeah, I guess so. I want to sit with her but she won't wake up until tomorrow since she's sedated." Cristina said sadly.

"I would say just come back in the morning. Either before or after breakfast. And remember if you come before breakfast you are not allowed to stay."

"No, I know I can't stay. That's fine. I'll just do that I guess. I just want her to be better already. I need my person back to fight me for all of the cool cases."

"She'll be back Cristina. She can fight you for those cases when she's better and back at work."
