Sick and Tired

Chapter 67

Derek has been sitting at Meredith's bedside as she sleeps off the sedative for the past few hours. He figures she should be waking up very soon.

A few minutes later he sees her moving around in her bed.

"Mer?"

Meredith wakes up and looks over at Derek. "Hi. I want to go home." She says sleepily.

"I know. I'm not sure yet when they are discharging you." Derek says, holding her hand.

"I don't want to stay here. I want to go home." She says, about to start crying. "Please don't let them admit me to psych. Please don't."

Derek sighs. "Mer, you really scared us. I'm not sure what they're plans are yet for you."

"Please. I can't stay here. I want to go home. I'll be good. I promise. I'll stay in bed. Just please don't let them admit me to psych. I- I won't cut again." Meredith says all of this but doesn't know if she can keep those promises. She wants to go home so badly that she will say anything. Whatever it takes for her to be able to be discharged. "Where's Dr Bear?"

"He's at home sweetie."

"I want Dr Bear." She says tearfully.

Derek hears a knock on the door and looks up to see Bailey. She gestures for him to come out of the room so they can talk.

"I'll be back Meredith."

Meredith looks at him with wide eyes. "Derek please." She begs.

Bailey leads him silently to a conference room and he enters and sees Dr Wyatt.

"Hello Derek. Nice to see you, though would've wanted it to be under better circumstances." Dr Wyatt says.

"Hi Dr Wyatt."

"Derek, Dr Wyatt and I wanted to talk to you about Meredith before she's discharged, if she's discharged. Meredith majorly self harmed today and caused herself a lot of emotional pain. How do you honestly think she's doing? Do you think she's okay to go home? Or do you think she needs to stay here and be moved up to psych? We're worried about her self harming but wanted to talk to you before we did anything else." Bailey says.

Derek sighs. "I honestly think this was all because she saw her weight and didn't like it. She's been very anti-bedrest and I'll have to stop her from getting out of bed and exercising. I think her self harming today was just a way to get all of that pain out of her. She already told me that she will follow the rules this time and won't self harm."

Derek doesn't mention that Meredith told him that she wanted to die when she was self harming or that she thought that Bailey should've let her die when she had the chance.

"I think that she is still in the same mental state as before when she was acting childish. She's already asked me for her teddy bear today and when I told her he was at home she repeated herself saying she wanted Dr Bear and started to cry a little. I think the majority of what happened today was because she saw her weight. I'm going to hide that scale from her again and this shouldn't happen again."

"I don't know... she really was hysterical. She couldn't stop going on and on about how fat she thinks she is. She kept saying how she wanted to get rid of it. If we allow her to go home we need you to make sure she's eating and not self harming." Dr Bailey says.

"She's been eating. She's been following her meal plan 100% lately. I don't think she's self harmed other than this." Derek says.

Dr Wyatt nods. "Okay. We can discharge her. Just make sure she stays safe and continues following her meal plan. If that stops, bring her back in."

"And Derek, she needs to stay in bed! She's going to injure her leg even more if she doesn't. I'm going to come back to her room with you and tell her that."

Derek thanks Dr Wyatt and him and Dr Bailey leave the room to go back to Meredith.

They get back to Meredith's room and see her anxiously waiting for them to get back. She was just staring at the door waiting for them to come back.

"Derek! Can we go home please? Dr Bear needs me!"

"Grey. We are discharging you under a few conditions. One, you must continue following your meal plan. No skipping anything. I don't care that you're laying in bed all the time. Two, do not self harm. If Derek even notices one tiny cut he is to bring you back immediately. And three, stay in the damn bed Grey! I've been hearing from Derek that you've been getting out of bed to exercise! That will NOT happen, do you hear me Grey?! You are to stay in bed until we tell you otherwise!" Bailey tells her intern.

"Yes! I will follow all of those directions! I promise! I just want to go home!" Meredith says. At this point she will say anything to them to let her go home. She feels herself starting to slip with her eating disorder but refuses to say a word to anyone about it.

"Okay then. I will go get your discharge papers. I'll be right back."

She comes back a few minutes later and Meredith quickly signs everything. Derek goes to grab a wheelchair for Meredith. He helps her into it and off they go.

They get to the lobby and Cristina is in there, coming back from getting coffee

"Oh look it's Meredith Grey! Want some coffee? Oh wait sorry I put milk and cream and sugar in it. Your anorexia won't let you have it. Oh well." Cristina says sarcastically.

Meredith bursts into tears and Derek glares at Cristina. He continues to push Meredith in the wheelchair and they get in the car to go home.

Meredith decides at that point that she needs to start doing better with her anorexia. She knows she needs to get back on track and lose the weight again. After all she's gained a lot of weight from being stuck on bed rest. Or so she thinks, not realizing some of it is fake weight from her thick cast.

I hope you liked! Also, don't worry Cristina will come around at some point and feel absolutely horrible about how she's treating Meredith. Not sure exactly how far that is away yet but it's not too far off in the distance
