TW ED, SH

It's a few days later and Meredith still hasn't accepted the fact that she needs to stay in bed. Her eating disorder keeps telling her that she can't be lazy. If she's lazy she'll gain weight and she absolutely does not and can not have that happen to her.

Each day Meredith secretly exercises in her bed. And each time she gets caught by Derek who tells her to stop exercising.

Today though Meredith decided that she's going to do more exercise than she normally could in bed. She's going to use her crutches and walk around her room in an attempt to burn calories.

She slowly gets out of bed and hobbles over to her crutches. She puts them under her arms and starts walking. She made sure Derek wasn't coming up the stairs and slowly walked around her room. Soon thirty minutes have passed by. She's so into her exercise that she doesn't hear Derek coming up the stairs and then coming into the room.

"Meredith! No exercise! I don't know how many times I've caught you now. Come on let's get you back in bed." He takes the crutches from her and helps her back into bed.

"Please! Let me exercise! I can't continue laying in bed all the time!" She wails. She beats her fists again him as he carries her back to her bed.

"Mer, you're going to be fine. We need to get you healed up."

"I'll be fine! I'll heal! I just need to exercise! I know you don't want a fat girlfriend so let me do this!"

"I don't care what size you are Meredith! I love YOU! I love you any size you are. It's what's on the inside that matters."

"Derek I can't live with myself if I am fat. I have to be as small as possible. I can't gain any weight! I won't be able to handle it!"

Derek picked up on her words when she said she needed to be as small as possible but just brushed it off. He's thinking it's just her way of explaining herself to him and why she doesn't want to be fat. Not that it's her mindset again.

"I'm going to go make a quick phone call. I'll be back. Do not get out of bed Meredith Grey!" He leaves the room and looks through his contacts as he goes.

Meredith puts her arms against her chest and pouts. "I hate this!" She yells.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Come on Callie, answer the phone." Derek says to himself.

Callie picks up on the last ring.

"Hey Derek! How's it going? Meredith doing okay?"

"Callie I'm beyond stressed right now. Meredith will not listen and keeps getting out of bed to exercise. She refuses to stay in bed, saying she will get fat if she does that. You don't want to know how many times I've caught her exercising in her bed. Today I caught her walking around her room with her crutches."

"Derek she absolutely cannot do that. She's going to set back her recovery. She's going to injure herself."

"Torres I know that. I've told her that a million times. But she will just not listen to me. I don't know how to get her to listen. She just cries and says she'll get fat if she continues to lay in bed."

"Are you home with her right now?"

"Yeah."

"Put her on the phone." Callie says.

Derek heads into Meredith's room and sees her crying in bed.

"Meredith, Callie wants to talk to you." He gives her the phone.

"Hello?" Meredith says softly.

"Grey why am I hearing that you've been exercising?"

"Because I can't stay in bed 24/7! I'll get fat! And then no one will like me! I can't be lazy. I'm going to get fat from laying in bed. I can't do this!"

"You are going to hurt yourself Meredith. You are going to re-injure yourself."

"I don't care. All I care about is that I don't get fat!" Meredith yells into the phone.

"Grey? I have a question for you and I want you to be honest with me. Are you eating?"

"Yes! I'm eating though I really shouldn't be if I'm stuck in bed. I'm going to gain so much weight!" She starts sobbing at the thought of that.

Callie tries to calm her down but nothing is working. "Grey, you need to calm down. You're going to be okay. I promise."

Meredith ignores her and just continues crying.

"Meredith can you get Derek?"

Meredith doesn't say anything and doesn't move in response. After 5 minutes of no response from her Callie decides to page Derek to get him to go to Meredith.

Derek heard his pager go off. "What! I'm not on call." He sees the page is from Callie.

"911-Meredith." It reads.

Derek rushes upstairs and sees Meredith on the floor curled up in a ball sobbing. He takes the phone from her and thanks Callie and tells her he'll let her know how Meredith is doing later.

Derek kneels down next to Meredith and gently rubs her back. "Mer, shh. It's okay. You're okay. Everything's going to be fine." He spends the next 30 minutes calming her down. Eventually she stops crying and looks tiredly at Derek.
