Sick and Tired

Chapter 19

It's Meredith's fourth day in the psych ward and she is not having it. She is still refusing to eat. And she has also stopped drinking any fluids. Meredith is getting very dehydrated which is making them worry about her even more.

A nurse comes in and attaches an iv bag filled with fluids to her. Meredith freaks out when she saw the bag.

"What's that??? How many calories??? I don't want it!"

This nurse was being very rude to Meredith and responded very snarkily (is that a word?) "For goodness sakes there are no calories in this. Jeez. I've had it with you."

"I want Dr.Bailey" Meredith says crying

"I'll page her but I don't know if she'll come. I know she's getting tired of you and no longer likes you."

Meredith believed every word this nurse said and her eyes instantly filled with tears.

A while later Bailey shows up at Meredith's door.

"Hello Meredith! How are we doing today?"

"I dunno" Meredith is acting very shy and won't look at Dr. Bailey because she believes what the nurse told her.

Bailey sees that Meredith won't look at her. She looks at Meredith's chart and sees that her weight has gone down even more. She sees that Meredith is refusing all fluids and grows more concerned.

"Meredith why are you refusing fluids?"

"I dunno"

"Mer we need to get you eating and drinking again."

Meredith doesn't say anything.

"I'm going to get you a cup of water and I want you to drink it. There are no calories in water." Bailey says. She leaves and comes back with a cup of water.

"Here you go sweetie. Can you drink this for me?"

"No" Meredith says softly.

"Come on Mer you can do this."

"No I can't" Meredith says. "Why do you even care? You don't like me anymore."

Bailey's eyes widen. "What are you talking about Grey? Of course I like you! You're my favorite intern!"

"But Nurse Anne said you were tired of me and didn't like me anymore. She said I annoy you." Meredith said with tears running down her face.

"She said what!!!" Bailey is furious at that nurse for telling Meredith those lies. Meredith is already sensitive enough as it is. "Meredith look at me. Come on Mer look at me. There you go. She was lying to you. The things she told you are not true in the slightest. I'm going to go get her taken off your case after you finish your water."

Bailey gets Meredith to drink her water but it takes a long time and a lot of tears are shed. "Great job Meredith I'm really proud of you. I know that was super hard for you." Bailey leaves the room a few minutes later to go get the nurse taken off of Meredith's case.

A few hours later someone walks into Meredith's room after knocking on the door.

"Hi Meredith! I'm Amelia Shepherd!"

"Shepherd? As in Derek Shepherd?" Meredith questions.

"Yeah, that's my annoying brother" she says rolling her eyes. "Anyways I'm here to make you want to get better."

"No thanks. I'm not eating anything. I'm fine." Meredith says.

"Wanna bet?" Amelia says. "Both of those statements are false."

"I'm not not eating anything. I'm fine." Meredith repeats.

What should I do next? I'm really not sure what to do next. I'm kinda stuck
