Amia sat nervously on her bed. Today was her birthday and she was supposed to be going out with Jahseh but her mom ended up not going to work so once Jahseh came her mom was here.
Now they are downstairs having a conversation.
Amia knew the conversation wouldn't go well, neither of them liked each other and she felt like she'd lose Jahseh because of it. She didn't want to lose him.
"No I don't want her with you!" She heard her mom yell making her heart start to race.
"Well she's 18 now, doesn't matter what you want" she heard Jahseh speak back.
It got silent before she heard a crash "vete a la mierda!" She heard her yell which made her jump up.

She ran downstairs to see her mothers broken vase behind Jahseh who stood against the wall with squinted eyes and very hard breathing while her mother stood with a red face and a bawled fist.
"I won't go" she spoke up which made them both look at her.
Her mother knew that's not what she wanted but that was what was best for her so she was fine with the decision while Jahseh shook his head.
"Why not?" He asked her making her look over at her mom.
He walked closer to her which made her back up a little "you don't want to come?" He asked her , grabbing under her chin to lift her head up.
"Jahseh she doesn't want me with you" she told him, trying to push him off of her.
Her heart raced as she thought of him doing something to her in front of her mom. She knew that her mother knew about it but she didn't want her to see it.
"You don't want to be with me?" He asked her making her go silent but she still tried pulling his arm off.
"Answer me Amia" he told her, knowing it would weaken her.
She looked up at him before looking over at her mother who looked kind of fearful like she was at the moment.
She stumbled over her words for a minute before he spoke again.
"It's a yes or no question" he told her, bringing her closer to him.
"Seh she's my mom" she fought back and he shrugged.
"So you don't?" He asked her and she shook her head before sighing.
"I didn't say that" she argued.
"You didn't say anything" he reminded her.
"You can't make me choose between you and my mom" she told him and he nodded before getting angry at the fact the she wasn't answering.
"I'm not making you do shit! I asked you a question" he yelled at her making her flinch.
"If you hit her I'm calling the police" her mother spoke up making Jahseh suck his teeth.
"Doesn't matter, she'll say you're lying" he told her before turning back to Amia.
He grabbed Amia by her neck and pressed her against the wall which made her mom gasp and go for her phone.
"Answer" he told her and she nodded.
"I do" she told him and he nodded, letting her go.
"Now come on so we can go to dinner" he told her, reaching for her hand.
"Mija if you leave out this house with that boy you can't come back."
