The umbrella academy: In which Five gets all the love he deserves

Untitled Part 65

A couple of weeks had passed since the Kugeblitz incident and everything had turned back to normal. The Sparrows were all live again because of the switch that Five had pressed, not the one Allison was supposed to press. Their father is dead and this time he would stay dead. Five siblings had left days after he had woken up when they saw that he was alright. Well alright as he could be with still a missing arm. They took Allison and left. He doesn't know where. And for the first time after so much time, Five doesn't care about his siblings anymore. Why should he if they don't as well?

If they would have cared about him, they should have made an effort to stay at the Academy with him. Even they are not friendly with the Sparrows. They could have done that. For him. But no. Once he had woken up and he was free to leave the infirmary, they left. Well, he doesn't care. He has another family that actually gives a shit what happens to him.

Five had struggled with one arm. It was hard to do the basics things like dressing too. And there are the phantoms pains as well. That comes when you less expected and last days and that are the days where Five wanted to die. Even with medicine is hard for him.

But at least he's not alone. He has Ben and Fei who are always there for him. At every step. Of course, he has the other Sparrow as well. They had gotten close closer when Ben and Fei spilled the beans about his life with the Umbrella. He has seen them. When his siblings had come to help against the Kugelblitz. Not only Ben and Fei. But the other Sparrow kept an eye on him and shot dark looks at the Umbrella. They never let him alone with his siblings. And when he was alone by mistake with them, they would always find him and stay with him and drag him away from them. Five was surprised that the Sparrow actually listened to him and didn't attack the Umbrella. If he would have told his siblings that, they wouldn't have listened to him.

Yes. Now Five has a family that actually cares about him. It's supposed to be a happy ending. Right? Wrong. Despite the struggle and the pain of missing a limb, Five still suffer from nightmares. Which is nothing new to him. He had them all his life. In the beginning, his nightmares have been about losing his siblings. Now they had changed. Now his nightmares are about losing his Sparrow family. He hears them in his dream. Screaming at him to help them as he stays frozen in the spot and watches them die. And this is not the only one. He dreams that he hadn't been fast enough and Allison did press the button and he was alone, in a foreign timeline. Abandoned again by everyone. This time his nightmare had been something new. He had dreamed that the Kugeblitz had wiped everything and everyone. Everyone but himself. He was surrounded by endless darkness and no matter how much he ran, it didn't end. And no matter how much he screamed for someone, no one answered him. He was all alone. Again. 

Five woke up with a gasp and he looked frantically around him. He panicked because he was surrounded by darkness once more. Five got out of bed and stumbled to the light switch. He switched the light on and when the room was enveloped by bright light, he sighed relieved, and lowered himself to the ground. He took deep breaths to calm down. "You're fine. You're fine. You are the Academy", he whispered to himself to calm down. He was in his room at the Academy. He was not alone. The others are asleep in their room. Wuya was asleep on her spot at his bedside. The Kuglebitz was long gone.

Five stayed there for a few more minutes before he stood up. He walked to Wuya and he brushed his fingers against the feathers a few times before he walked out of the room. He would not be able to go back to sleep anymore.

Marcus' attention was moved from the book when he heard a door close and open and footsteps in the hallway. He looked at the digital clock at his bedside and he saw that it was 1 in the morning. Everyone was supposed to be asleep now. He planned to go to sleep as well after he read one more chapter from the book. There was one person besides him who would be awake at his hour. He knows. Everyone knows that the kid has trouble sleeping. One day Sloane tried to give him warm milk or chamomile tea to relax him and go to sleep. But Five had refused. The kid is way too stubborn for his own good.
