(Rylie's POV)
Rylie's heart is more light than usual as Aly and her travel back to the pack's location. Her mother and her grandma told her that she should call and text them sometimes to let them know if she's ok, and she said to them that she will always do that.
Aly also turned into a human in their very eyes to convince them more that she indeed found a werewolf. But Rylie couldn't really show them for now that she became a werewolf too. She still can't really control her werewolf form; that's why she can't show it to them.
'Happy'
Rylie nodded on Aly's back. A smile made its way across her face remembering her mother packing her clothes and her grandma Pip giving her a piece of the cooked pie they ate on several of their stops.
'Well... that went well from what I imagined it would be. I thought your grandma has a shotgun, and she'll shoot me with it.'
Her shoulder shakes from Aly's joke. 'She's not that type.'
Rylie can't even imagine her grandma going all Rambo on Aly's wolf.
'Well, it doesn't hurt to be prepared---' Aly's wolf stopped, and Rylie became alert. This is the first time Aly had stopped on their runs and with all her furs standing on end.
Aly threw her muzzle in the air and sniffed. 'W-Wait.... There is a witch here.'
Her eyes widen then her palms started sweating. She gripped Aly's fur tightly and buried her head on that thick mane. She's afraid of witches now because of the encounter she had with them. They looked like they can kill a werewolf on sight even though werewolf is impressive in their own way.
'Aly...... Are you sure it's only one?' Even with their mind link. Rylie's voice sounded scared.
'I think so. But we can never be sure. We don't have their magic detection ability.' Aly growled lowly. 'Grip my back tightly. I'm going to run.'
'Aly----'Rylie didn't get to catch her breath as they speed up running. And she whipped her head back when she felt a sharp wind almost cross near her cheeks. It exploded in front of them in the colors of blue. And lightning is crawling on the ground where it hit. Her eyes widen in fear.
The witch who casted that is flying on the ground and is now running after them. Unlike the first three witches she encountered so far. This one is just wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
'She saw us! We don't have time to lose.' There's panic in Aly's voice, and Rylie's heart constricted with fear.
'Can we still hide in the cave?'
'That will do!'
"Stop!"
'Is she crazy?! She wants us to stop?!' Aly's werewolf seems to shake its head before running faster.
But then Aly's paw hit the ground in a complete stop, and Rylie was almost got thrown off Aly's back. She gripped Aly's neck and looked in front. They are staring at a wall of rock. Shit! Will they be able to escape?
The witch smirked and started walking towards them and with her hands glowing with bright red color. Aly backed away and started growling lowly. And Rylie gripped Aly's fur and tried to disappear behind Aly's thick coat.
'Rylie. Get off my back.'
'B-But Aly......'
'Get off now!'
As soon as Rylie got off. Aly growled and started sprinting towards the witch. Those paws pounding heavily on the dirt and created dust everywhere that Rylie has to shield her eyes. When the dust settled in, she squinted her eyes in Aly and the witch's direction.
The witch, in turn, throws the light in Aly's direction, but the latter easily evaded the attack. The two of them dance in a battle of lights and blurred wolf form. Lightning was also flashing in their location as the two battled.
It must be the witches' doing!
Rylie looked around to find anything that she could use against the witch. And Rylie grabbed her hair in frustration when she didn't see anything that she could help Aly with.
What should I do?
Rylie closed her eyes, and when she opened them, an idea came to her mind. She started picking rocks. Maybe the witch will direct its attention to her, and Aly will take that chance to strike!
With arms full of rocks, Rylie aimed it at the witch and throws the stone at it. It was hit in the head. There is no damage to the witch, but she successfully got its attention. The witch whipped her head in Rylie's direction and puts her hands out towards her. And those hands started glowing bright red, but before the witch could release its magic.
Aly bit those hands and shook it in the air until it came off. The witch shriek and started trashing its hands wildly in the air.
'Thank you, Rylie.'
'Don't mention it---Lookout!'
Aly turned her head towards the witch just in time as the witch tried to cast another magic. And Rylie desperately threw the rocks again in its direction. The witch didn't even glance her way. Maybe it learned its lesson. It started hopping backward and aimed those fiery balls in Aly's direction. The latter successfully evaded it again.
The witch opens its jaw in fear and surprise before Aly chomped down on its head.
Rylie winced and looked away when the witch's head flung itself right in her direction. It rolled a few feet away from her feet, and she shivered by the powerful jaw Aly has in her wolf form. She looked in Aly's direction, and her eyes widen when Aly slowly transform into a human again.
She runs towards Aly and lets out a breath when she catches her in time before the latter fell to the ground. Even though she can feel Aly's nakedness. She didn't think about it for a moment. She immediately removed her jacket and put it on Aly's body.
"A-Aly? Please.... Wake up!"
"S-Sorry, Rylie. But can we rest here for a bit?" Aly then closed her eyes.
"What if there's more than one witch? What then? We can't sleep here!" Rylie slapped Aly's cheeks, but it was no use! Aly is already sleeping, and when Rylie checked Aly's body. There were bruises and burns on her body.
Rylie looked around and found a hidden cave near the rocks. She dragged Aly's body there, and when they got there. Rylie rummaged her bag for her clothes and started putting it on a rock. She laid Aly there.
She hugged her knees and looked at Aly's sleeping face. This woman had saved her more than once now. But she has to be able to transform into a werewolf if she wants to protect Aly too. She can't let Aly fight her battles too. She feels so useless.
She sighed. If everything returns to normal, she won't get the chance to meet this girl. Rylie reached out and touched Aly's cheeks. She liked being with Aly.
