Rylie's POV

"Are you ok, Rylie?"

Aly went to her side after she crushed the head of the coven leader.

Rylie looked at Aly, and a tear ran down from her eyes. She couldn't properly grieve her father. She felt so numb even though they won against the were-witch. She doesn't think she can tell this to her grandma and her mother.

Everything felt so cold and dark.

Aly must have noticed the tears from her eyes and caressed her grey fur.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Rylie. We will have a proper burial for Thomas Scott. He is a good man."

Rylie hangs her head in shame. No. She thought her father was really a good man tell the end, but it doesn't justify why he collaborated with the witches to create a hybrid. Even with desperation, she doesn't think he will resort to that.

"He wasn't a good man, Aly."

Aly looked at her with wide eyes. "H-How can you say that?"

"Are you all ok? We really need to get Alpha Gab to the pack's location to properly treat her." Lina interrupted them and held onto Aly's shoulder. "Aly also needs to get her wound check on---"

Lina must have noticed the atmosphere between them and looked at them with a winced on her face.

"O-Ok. I'll get Alpha Gab out of here."

Lina then tapped Aly's injured arms.

"Ouch!" Aly looked at Lina angrily, and Lina made a peace sign.

"S-Sorry, but after you two talked. Please get that wound checked up."

After that, Lina wiped Aly's blood, put it in her arms, and chanted a spell under her breath. Then walked away from them and lifted Alpha Gab's body.

A moment of silence passed between the two of them. Rylie couldn't look properly in Aly's way.

"Do you want me to be here with you?"

Rylie inhaled deeply. She doesn't know what to feel and think, but she needs some time alone. But she knew that only Aly could understand her because of the loss they both have experienced. Even so, she needs to sort these feelings with herself. So despite what she felt, she nodded her head.

"I-I want to be alone, Aly."

"I don't want you to feel alone, Rylie." Aly looked at her with a sad eye. "But can I hug you?"

Before she could nod her head. Aly pressed their bodies together, and the warmth brought by it made her feel all sorts of things. Her tears started pouring out of her eyes. Then her claws, fur, and fangs retracted back. Until she fully transformed into her human form.

Rylie held on to Aly's body as her body was wracked with sobs.

Aly patted her back. "I know, Ry. Everything will pass. You can always look for better things."

"B-But, Aly..... W-What will I say to them? I have so many questions that haven't been answered?! H-How can I just look for better things right now?"

Aly held her tighter. "You will get through this. I'll help you. I promise."

Aly had helped her so much for the rest of the summer, and everything felt so chaotic. She wonders if she could really get through all of it.

-----------------------------

After crying for a while, Aly accompanied her to her father's body.

Rylie felt a sense of dread as they got closer to the inside of the were-witch mansion. She could already smell the putrid smell of metal on the air as the bodies of were-witch, witches, and werewolves littered the whole place.

She closed her eyes once she set her sights on her father's body. It still lays on the tiled floor, hospital beds next to it. Paraphernalia of injections and other medical tools was scattered on the floor.

Aly stood by the post, looking at her as she crouched down to hold her father's head.

Dad, how did you end up like this?

Rylie wants to ask her father, but she knows he wouldn't answer her anyway.

"Ry. H-Here's your father's diary."

Someone tapped her shoulders, and she saw Kelly holding out a black notebook in front of her.

"T-Thank you, Kelly."

Rylie took it and put it in her chest. This is the last thing that her father gave her.

"T-There's a part of it that tracks all of your birthdays. H-Her never forgot it even for one bit."

Tears began to form in her eyes again. She wiped them angrily. What is the use of all of it if her father is now dead?

W-Why did he have to sacrifice himself? Why did he do all those experiments?

She bowed her head down. No one will solve all the troubles her father had made but her. She will make sure that she will kill all the were-witch that her father helped create.

She hugged her father's cold body one last time.

Dad. I'm sorry I couldn't tell what you did to grandma and mom. I want them to remember how good your heart is and how desperation has ruined you. I'll take care of them, I promise.

Rylie nodded to the rest of the pack members, and they held her father's body. They all decided to burn her father's body on the pack's location, along with the other bodies. Then try to repair all the damage the were-witch had done. They will also try to cure the children that became a were-witch against their will.

She stood up and looked at her father's body one last time.

Aly put an arm around her and kissed her hair.

"Ry...... please..... d-don't let your father be a bad man inside your heart. H-He was really a brilliant person, and I'm sure he doesn't agree with everything that happened. H-He's not himself anymore when Kelly found him."

"But I will clean the mess he made, Aly."

"D-Don't be like me, Ry. For a while, I blamed myself for what happened, but I-I know now that it happened for a reason."

"You don't understand, Aly." Rylie swiped Aly's arms away from her, and her wolf whimpered. But Rylie hushed it down. "My father is a murderer and an enabler. I-I don't think that I'll e-ever forgive him for what he did!"

Aly stared her down but looked away. "You are blind with rage right now. I understand, but please don't hurt yourself."

Aly walked away from her, and Rylie let her. Although her heart is aching, and her wolf is still whispering Aly's name. For now, Rylie knew that they couldn't meet without lashing at each other when her father was involved.

Kelly, Hunter, Nathan, and Hanna looked away as soon as Rylie saw them. She turned her back and went towards the cabinet where her father lay.

There are still pressing matters she needs to attend to.

She opened the cabinet, but her mouth hung open when she saw it empty.

Where the hell is the cure and the formula for the hybrid?
