Aly's POV
Aly looked at the witches that emerged from the mansion one by one. They all wore a sleeveless black shirt paired with jeans. Kind of a hip vibes kind of style for witches, Aly thought.
They clearly weren't acquainted with the witches they had encountered before. Those witches wore long hooded coats. But these witches don't have that; they all look like normal human beings except for the way they dress.
Are they another breed of witches?
She looked at Rylie, and despite the situation. Aly can't help but smile at Rylie's reaction. Her mouth is hanging open like it's the first time she has seen a witch trying not to kill her. It was adorable and for a moment. Aly remembered the night she had her hands in between Rylie's legs. She was trying hard not to think about those carnal thoughts, but with Rylie's mouth hanging open like that, she couldn't help it.
She shook her head to get the haze of lust away from her mind.
She instead looked in front and stepped closer to Elder Tristan again. There's just something that is bothering her mind.
"Are you really sure they are not out to get us killed?" Aly whispered in Elder Tristan's direction.
The Elder looked at her with a furrowed eyebrow. "If they have an intention to kill us. We should be dead by now. Are you not thinking with your brain? Or are you just stigmatizing all of them?"
Aly became still with what the Elder told her. She doesn't know what to say. He has a point. For a long time, she looked at the witches as enemies. Is there a possibility that they can all live in harmony?
"Just like us. There are good werewolves and bad werewolves." Elder Lola piped in, and Aly zipped her mouth shut.
The elders had a point, and she was beginning to understand that in order to survive, they have to help each other out.
She felt Rylie squeeze her hand. "I'm sure everything will be alright, Aly."
Aly looked at Rylie's face, and her eyes softened. She needs to be alive for Rylie too. She can't let her emotions and her fears get in the way.
Rylie also needs to be trained, but how? They are starting the mission, and Rylie doesn't know what her wolf could do. She's afraid that Rylie will have to find out soon enough about the bloodshed.
"Well, I have 15 coven witches, and you all need to respect our diversity. If you could do that. We will help rescue the Light moon pack and eliminate the other coven. That's our condition." Lina shouted, and it echoed across the whole place. "Do you accept this simple request?"
The ground from where they were standing started glowing red, and Aly squeezed Rylie's hands. She's ready to bolt if this is a trapped set by Lina herself. The other werewolves began looking at each other nervously, and Lina chuckled.
"Relax, guys. This is an oath. If you break this, you can't set foot on this mansion; that's the condition."
She exhaled the breath she was holding and glared at Lina. The woman is such a witch. Playing a cruel prank like that. Witches are more powerful than they are, but they can also empower the witches' attack as werewolves are more physically capable and don't tire much.
The witch must have noticed her reaction and smirked.
This witch will see. If she ever made another practical joke. Aly will cut off her head.
"I accept the oath." Elder Tristan said. Then all the other wolves followed, including Elder Lola.
She and Rylie looked at each other when the attention went to the two of them.
Aly became suddenly aware of the stares they were getting. She's still apprehensive about the witches, and now they are already taking an oath? Isn't this a little bit shady?
Aly sighed. She hoped that she was not going to regret this later on. "Alright. I also accept the oath."
Rylie smiled and followed her.
"I accept the oath."
Lina smiled triumphantly.
After that, the red glow disappeared and entered their body. Aly felt a shiver down her spine. She felt like she had just signed her soul to the devil. But they badly needed help, and if these witches were true to their words. She will have to accept any help she can get.
"Let's go." Elder Tristan led them back to the trail where they came from. "Let's not waste any more time."
They all followed the Elders, and after a few minutes, they emerged to a side of the road. Cars were waiting for them there. Hale smiled at them and waved a hand.
Aly smiled to see familiar friendly faces. Finally, someone nice enough to help without an oath or conditions.
"How was it?"
"Nerve-wracking."
Aly smiled at what she heard from Rylie. "Not as nerve-wracking as your awakening ritual?"
With that, Rylie laughed, and it was followed by Lina and the other witches. While Elder Tristan, Elder Lola, and the other wolves smiled.
Aly hoped that this good atmosphere would last long.
---------------------
They all sat inside the car, and Aly felt her hands become clammy with sweats as they sped up towards the Shasta mountain.
The images of her mother, her father, and her little sister came to her mind. When she awakened after becoming a level two werewolf. Her hands and clothes are bloody. Her parents and little sister, lying there in a pool of blood.
She can already imagine the carnage the witches did to their pack. The dead bodies from the ritual's location towards the pack's location are already decaying by now. She can also imagine the smell and the worms eating their bodies up.
"Are you alright?" Rylie noticed her sweating forehead and her clammy hands and squeezed them.
"S-Sorry, Rylie. I-I just need to breathe for a while."
Rylie reached in towards her way, and Aly smelled that mixed fragrance again. A mixture of sweat and her natural scent. She leaned back a little to give Rylie room, but it turned out that Rylie had just opened the window.
Aly felt the gush of fresh wind come her way. She breathed deeply and looked at Rylie with gratitude. Then she whispered thanks and felt Rylie's warm hands squeeze her own.
If Rylie hadn't become a werewolf will she ever find her? Maybe it was fate that led Rylie to be there. She never imagines finding someone so sensitive towards her needs and just understands her without judgment.
Rylie's lover will be lucky, and she hopes it will be her.
"Do you feel better now?" Rylie looked her way, and Aly couldn't help but look at that lush, full lips she claimed last night.
Rylie must have realized what's she's thinking by the way she was looking at those lips intensely and looked away, blushing.
Aly cleared her throat. Suddenly aware of how close their body is and how Rylie's scent is driving her crazy. She looked in front only to be met with a dark chocolate eye.
She quickly glared at the witch in front of her. They are all inside the same car because of Elder Tristan's insistence. If not, Aly wouldn't even dream of riding the same vehicle as Lina. She just hates the arrogance of this olive-skinned witch.
Lina chuckled then looked between her and Rylie. The witch chuckled and sat back down on her seat.
Aly sighed. She wished that they could rescue the Light Moon pack in time and go back to normal. She wants Rylie to go back to her own family too. She wouldn't want to deny Rylie that.
She really doesn't want to get help from the Raven Crest but between pride and her duty. She wants to pick the second option. After all, the Light moon pack is her family. And the family couldn't be replaced with just anyone.
