(Aly's POV)

Aly closed her eyes as soon as she said that. She doesn't want to see the disappointment in Rylie's eyes when she looks at her.

The guilt and the shame started to make her heart squeeze. But despite all that, she can't help but take a step towards Rylie. She wants to seek comfort in the arms of her true mate.

'Aly.... Looked at me.'

Aly slowly puts her gaze towards Rylie. Rylie's gray wolf is teary-eyed while looking at her.

'It's not your fault.'

With that words, Aly became weak, and she began to transform into her human form. Her bone started retracting inwards, her nails and fangs too, then her fur followed.

She put her hands on her face. Her shoulder shook as her tears started falling. The guilt and shame made her blame herself for everything that happened. Maybe, that's why she was always rescuing rogue wolves as much as possible. She was trying to atone for her sins.

But she knew it wasn't enough because she couldn't forgive herself. It wasn't enough.

Rylie brushed her head on Aly's head, and it made her shoulder relax. She looked up and held the gray wolf's mane. Her heart warmed with Rylie's acceptance.

She never told Kelly the whole detail about what happened, but Kelly understood and didn't press her for answers, but with Rylie, it was just so easy to say it.

It made her breathe a sigh of relief that Rylie didn't judge her for what happened.

"T-Thank you for the kind words, Rylie." But Aly knew that she still had a feeling of guilt in her heart. She needs to be able to atone for it, and knowing that Rylie doesn't judge her for it made her happy for the time being because once she went to the Raven Crest Pack. She knew that they wouldn't let her step on the border of the pack's location.

"If you are not ready to go. We can wait for you to be ok and be brave enough to step on your old pack's ground."

Aly shook her head and smiled a little. Rylie really has a kind heart and has commendable sensitivity. But they both don't have the luxury of letting the time pass. They need to keep going.

"It's ok, Rylie. We need to keep going to rescue the pack."

Aly's eyes became sharp. There's no need for her pity excuse. If she needs to confront her past to rescue her new family. She will have to cross the boundary to the Raven Crest.

She will step on the ground of her former pack and prove to them that she's no longer unstable.

"We don't have time," Aly added.

Rylie's gray wolf opened its mouth in shock. But then, after a while, it nodded its head, realizing that she was earnest. Rylie's gray wolf seemed to smile, and Aly shook her head and began to transform again.

Aly's white wolf looked at the horizon as the sunset. If they start running now, they will arrive in the Raven Crest for three days at the least.

"Let's go."

Aly's paw started hitting the ground as she urged her four limbs forward towards the east. Rylie followed behind her. They ran towards the Raven Crest direction, stopped to sleep for a few hours, and hunted deer in the wood to quench their hunger.

"A-Aly?"

"Yes?"

Aly looked up after gazing into the distance. This was the first time she looked at Rylie properly as they tried to stay warm for the night cuddling. Aly realized that Rylie's gray wolf was beautiful under the moon goddess's light. It was the color of the tree's branches and perfect for camouflage.
