(Hyndor's POV)
"Don't disappoint me this time." High Priest Raindale looked at him intensely, and Hyndor fidgeted from where he was.
"Are you sure we need to bring this many people for pinpointing their location, High Priest?" Recia looked at the additional 3 people on their team. "We would be visible to them with this many people."
Hyndor didn't say anything. He just looked at the 3 additional people, then back at High Priest Raindale. After what happened last night, he knows that he shouldn't mess around until he obtains the high priest position.
"But there's something you are not telling me, Hyndor." High Priest Raindale looked at him. "Did you punched Scot last night? Control your temper, or I will control it for you. Got it?"
Recia looked at him and glared. "You punched him?"
His mouth became agape. H-How did he know?
"I can use technology too, Hyndor." High Priest Raindale put a hand to his shoulder, and he winced when he felt the pressure from his hands. "Don't do that again. He is a key to our evolution. Or I will end you."
Hyndor felt sweat dropped from his forehead to the side of his face. His heart is beating fast out of fear, and he can't look in the High Priest's direction. He was using a security camera?
"Go. Report immediately once you found them."
Hyndor didn't say a word. He wants to get out of Raindale's view. He followed Recia once they began to walk.
-----------------------
"We found them here, right?" Recia looked at the sigil they had put on the location. It has a glowing red thread that is only visible to them.
Hyndor nodded. The other 3 people from their coven looked at each other before gathering on the sigil.
He can tell that they are new to this kind of thing. New initiate as he once was. Naïve and doesn't know what to do. Only a few people from the coven knew what they were doing. It's always a secret mission and always gore and involve killings.
"Look out for them. They usually patrol these borders." Hyndor looked the other way in case the dogs came to his view.
"I hope this doesn't waste our time," Recia said and decided to walk another trail before crouching lower.
"Is this what becoming an initiate was?" A girl from the initiate asked them.
Recia and Hyndor looked at each other and nodded. "Sorry, kid. This mission is not glorious."
They all copied Recia's movement, and Hyndor's excitement grew as he saw the same people patrolling the area. Eight people again but no blue-eyed woman. They must have switched people from time to time.
He rubbed his hands.
He doesn't want to spoil this again. He needs to control himself.
He poured out his magic in his hands and let it linger on one of his fingers. Electricity crackled on it, and he could feel the sting. He needs a constant reminder to control himself.
"Let's go." Hyndor lifted his feet on the ground using his magic.
The others did the same. They floated above ground and silently followed the group. This time. Hyndor saw them transform and headed to a makeshift camp. They are a few feet away from the dogs because he knew they would hear their voices if they got close enough.
"We know where they are now," Hyndor smirked.
Recia furrowed her brow, "But there's something wrong here. There are only eight people. This is not their camp. I think it's a safety measure."
"Screw that!" Hyndor gritted his teeth and was about to launch himself in front of the group when Recia held him back. "I just need to pry the information from their mouths then."
"Are you out of your mind? Do you want to be punished? You have trespasses that can't be forgiven if you do that again, Hyndor." Recia looked at him thoughtfully. "You know Raindale. He gets what he wants. Plus, you know what the werewolf confessed. He can't tell the location because of a pact."
"Ok. Geez." Hyndor looked at the group before turning his attention again to Recia. "So, what do you suggest we do?"
"Camp here for the night and followed them again." Recia lowered her voice. "They have to think that no one followed them. We have to change patrolling in case one of them leaves. Got it?"
They all nodded and made a camp a few feet from the make-shift base. Witches like them can enhance their eyesight using the blood of those filthy dogs. They stored the blood inside a vial to be used in case they were facing a stronger opponent.
This time they are using it to power their eyesight. Recia poured blood on her fingers and smeared it on her eyelids. Recited a spell, and her eyes started glowing. They followed suit and made themselves comfortable.
"I will be the first watch," Hyndor suggested, but Recia shook her head.
"No. You will be the last watch. I don't know what you will do if we are not around Hyndor."
"That got me, butt hurt, Recia." Hyndor put a hand to his heart and smirked. "But I gotta admit. I can be pretty reckless, so yeah. Last watch then."
"Let's go, kids."
Hyndor put his arms around the two guys and winked in Recia's direction. The other girl in their group followed them.
She saw Recia shook her head before focusing her attention on the group.
Hyndor tapped his feet a few times. They didn't light up a bonfire because those dogs will see the smoke from where they are. He swatted a mosquito out of his way before looking at the three initiates.
He rolled his eyes. They are curled up on a rock and are using their cape as a blanket. Why didn't he think of that? He was so bored being alone here. Though he and Recia are like frenemies. He still feels that Recia can civilly talk to him. These kids didn't even utter a word since they set up a camp here.
He stood up and looked at the kids sleeping one last time before heading back to the direction where Recia was. He might as well patrol with her. They are initially the ones with this mission anyway.
Hyndor removed the branches from his face as he strolled the trail and saw Recia looking at the group.
"So. Anything?" He whispered that, and Recia looked at him with wide eyes.
"W-What are you doing here?"
"I'm bored. I need something to stimulate my senses. Those initiates are boring as fuck."
Recia put a hand to her mouth. "Shut your trap. I clearly told you that you are the last watch because this will happen. Your talking can alert them."
She was breathing out the word carefully, and Hyndor shrugged his shoulders and didn't say anything. He just looked at the group and smirked.
He knows that werewolves can hear them if they are not careful, but their experiments with those dogs gave them much information about their abilities.
"Don't worry, I am just here to watch you, Recia, and I thought you would get bored watching them."
Recia glared at him again, and Hyndor smiled. "You actually looked cute like that."
"I don't find you attractive. No, thank you."
He wanted to laugh, but he held it in. Sometimes he thinks that Recia doesn't like men. But once he is the high priest. Maybe he can force her to with that, he smirked.
