CHAPTER 70

(Rylie's POV)

Are you aware of what's happening?

Rylie slowly opened her eyes and looked around her. She was inside an ice cube, and snow fell around her. She looked up, and her eyes widened when she saw the grey wolf she encountered on the ritual ground.

W-What is it?

What's happening? Why is she back on the inside of her mind where she fought her inner wolf?

You let the beast take over your body. It's outside controlling it now.

She looked to the side and was surprised to see that there was a screen of the outside world from her point of view. Her body is moving, but she has no control over it!

Her eyebrows furrowed.

The images are a little bit blurry because of the fast paced fighting happening but she recognized the man as her mind slowly realized who it was that Alpha Gab and Aly was fighting.

That's the leader of the coven! Then she remembered what he did, and a part of her started to rise in anger. He killed her father! He is going to pay for what he did.

She gritted her teeth, closed her eyes tightly, and when she opened them. The ice cubes from her fingers started cracking a little.

Then as if on cue with her anger. Her Lobo form attacked the coven leader, Alpha Gab, and the rest of the pack. Her mouth hung open. It doesn't know who the enemy and allies are?

You are still triggered by what happened. This anger doesn't discriminate against the enemy and your ally. That beast is taking over because of your anger.

Rylie looked at the wolf in front of her because of what it said. Her eyes widening.

I-If you are my wolf, why are you talking to me? Who is that?

The wolf's lips tugged up in a corner, but as soon as it appeared, it disappeared, and the wolf's facial features became somber. I said that beast is the irrational part. I am the rational part, and I am imprisoned too. You almost killed our mate. Good thing I was able to stop the beast, but only for a short time. Then before I knew it, I was here with you.

T-That almost took Aly's life?

The wolf in front of her nodded its head.

Rylie shook her head. She doesn't know what she'll do if that ever happens. She doesn't think that she could forgive herself.

B-But I thought once I overcome the awakening ritual, t-that thing won't take over my body?

Hadn't Aly told you that it's a constant struggle? You see, it becomes easier once you overcome the beast the very first time, but this is beyond the awakening ritual. This is an inherent power that the werewolves are capable of controlling......that is, if they overcome this Lobo form.

L-Lobo form?

The wolf paced towards her, lowering its head. Then when it sets its green eyes at her. It looked extremely worried.

Yes, during extreme anger, the werewolves can take this form, but they will forever become a ravage rouge if they lose to it. There's only one who overcame this wolf form before.

Sh*t! Rylie reached out a hand when the version of her outside tried to slice Aly's neck. She also closed her eyes to try and stop the Lobo form but it didn't.

She frustratingly lifted her hands out of the ice cube, but it was so strong that she couldn't break free. But she can already feel the crack from the ice.

Can you help me?

The wolf shook its head. I'm sorry. I am but a projection. I can't help you.

Then as if to prove its point. It walked towards her and just passed through the ice cube holding her body. Her eyes widened from the realization.

Sh*t! She looked towards the screen of her mind, and she screamed her heart out when Aly was grazed in the neck by her Lobo form. Then before Aly could duck. Her Lobo form pierced Aly's left shoulder. Now there were two pools from the wounds on both of her shoulders that gushed out blood.

Her Lobo form was about to slice Aly's neck when Alpha Gab stepped in and pushed her away. Her beast form tumbled backward and snarled.

"This is an easy fight. Kill your comrades, and I will kill you after you kill them. I'll make sure you will return to your human form to see what you did."

The were-witch laughed and pointed at them and targeting Aly and Alpha Gab with her magic.

No! Rylie's heart ached with the thought of Aly, Alpha Gab, and the other pack member's death on her hands. Specially Aly. She didn't tell Aly yet that she chose her over Alpha Gab. If she doesn't return to her human form, she won't be able to say that to Aly!

The leader of the coven laughed maniacally. Her Lobo form looked at the coven leader, and now its attention was on him.

She needs to get out!

Rylie gritted her teeth and pulled her hands out of the cube she was in. She put all her force into lifting her hands. She closed her fist tightly. Her veins bulged with the way she was forcing her hands out. She heard a crack on the ice, and she pulled harder.

It was getting harder to breathe, but she took a gulp of air. She doesn't care if her gums are bleeding with the way she was gritting her teeth so hard. The only thing on her mind right now was to get out of the cube that was holding her.

"That's it! Keep pushing the cube! It's working!" The wolf in front of her jumped and wagged its tail.

"Ahhhh!" Rylie screamed and pulled harder. Then she heard the cracking become faster. Until all the ice that encompasses her hands gave out.

She released a breath, and her face brightened up when she could get out of the cube, but she almost stumbled forward. It was a good thing she could brace her hands out for the impact.

Her body felt light as she stumbled forward and successfully landed with her hands on the ground.

"What should I do?"

The wolf looked at her then in the direction of a river. "Follow that river, and there you might find the way out."

"W-Wait!"

To her astonishment, the grey wolf in front of her slowly vanished. There's so much she wants to ask the grey wolf, but there's no time. She looked to the screen one last time, and her heart sunk to her gut.

Aly and Alpha Gab are seriously injured, while the coven leader can dodge all the attacks.

She shook her head, and her teeth ground together.

She needs to stop all this madness and use her newfound power to defeat the coven leader!

Rylie ran towards the river as if her life depended on it. She hoped it was not too late to stop the Lobo from taking over her body. She looked towards the path she was treading on, and she knew that the same pathway to the river and the actual river was the one where she first encountered Aly.

She gasped when she hit a light at the end of the river, and she found herself in the outside world. Fires burning the trees around her, and she's clutching Alpha Gab's throat tightly. Her hands are soaked with wet blood from deep inside Alpha Gab's stomach.

Rylie gasped, opened her hands, and took her hands back from being buried in the Alpha's stomach. Alpha Gab immediately clutched her own stomach then her throat.

Her hands trembled when she crouched down to try and stop the bleeding. Her eyes burned from the tears that started falling from her eyes.

What has she done?

But then, her senses were so overdriven that she immediately sensed a blast of energy coming in her direction.
