After Aly left her, Rylie paced back and forth inside her room. She was worried for Kelly. Nora is playing a hard game. She was exposing Kelly.
Shit. The next full moon is a week from now. There was no way that she could harness her Lobo form. But is there any way that she could confront the Lobo form even without the full moon?
'Rylie? Can you hear me?'
'Kelly?'
'There's a fight on Lina's coven and also from our own pack. They drained the blood of our border patrol. They are going to bury the body. W-We need you there.'
'Kelly?'
Why is Kelly mind linking her? Where is she anyway?
'Where are you?'
'I don't know. It's a park near your university.'
'I'll come get you.'
Rylie doesn't want her mother to see Kelly because her mother will surely panic if she sees another werewolf inside their house again. As much as possible she doesn't want her mother to be too involved in the werewolf business.
They don't need to know what her dad did. She'll at least protect her father's reputation.
She walked towards the park and saw Kelly here. The latter scratched her head and waved at her.
Rylie looked at Kelly as soon as she sat on a bench. Kelly looked at the children playing at the park then back at her. Those brown eyes began to tear up and Rylie moved to where Kelly was and hugged her.
Kelly began to tremble and they both knew the problem that don't need to be address or else Nora will know what they are planning. But how can she ask Kelly the question?
Now that they are hurt again with the were-witches attack?
"What happened?"
Kelly told her what happened and Rylie listened. Her knuckles were fisted after Kelly finished telling her what happened.
Both of them became silent. Rylie wants to tear something down to tamper her frustrations and anger but it would be a waste of time.
"They also attacked Lina." Kelly gritted her teeth.
"Then why can't we just attack them?"
"We don't even know where they are hiding."
Rylie bit her lip. "That's a problem."
"So any progress?"
"On the Lobo form you mean?" Rylie's eyes flicker to Kelly and the latter must have noticed the hidden meaning in her eyes.
Kelly nodded her head.
Rylie sighed. How could they do this? If Nora can see through Kelly's eyes and see through her thoughts. How could they thwart her plan?
"I just had a bit of a problem." She'll just say it and hoped that their plans won't go awry because of what she's about to say. "Is there any way that I can harness my Lobo form without the full moon ritual?"
"Oh...yes...yes..." Kelly snapped her fingers in the air. "A pseudo-full moon. We could ask Lina for help. She'll be able to provide you for that."
Rylie's eyebrow scrunched together. "How?"
"Well, witches are witches for a reason."
Rylie felt hope surge through her whole body. They could make her stronger and after that they will be ready for battle.
"Let's go. I want to see the border patrol's family. I could at least grieve for them too."
Kelly put a hand up. "W-Wait. Are you sure? What about your mission here?"
"That mission? I can't do it even if I'm here. I need Aly to do the mission. I don't trust myself when it comes to it."
The last time they did the mission. She wants to help the victims and just go into battle without thinking. It would just compromise their mission.
"Oh..." Kelly nodded her head. But she didn't comment anymore.
They both knew that Nora will be listening in on Kelly's part. So they have to shut their mouth and not tell the mission to each other. She'll just tell it to Alpha Gab or Aly.
"Let's go before my mother knew. I don't want her to worry."
Her mother could get very upset if she didn't know where Rylie is. Because of what happened in the summer. Her mother became paranoid that something will happen to her. So now she's careful in dealing with her missions.
Kelly nodded her head and they went into another woods to transform into their werewolf form. Then they ran towards the pack's location.
They arrived on the pack's location and Rylie immediately looked around. The whole place is somber and grief is clearly written on every faces of the whole pack. They are already dressed in black and when Rylie sees Alpha Gab and Aly. They both are surprised that she was there.
Rylie felt like she should be angry at the two of them because they don't want to let her know what happened. It was only Kelly who told her about the deaths. She gets that they don't want her to worry but she would still be worried because the pack is like a family to her.
She saw Alpha Gab and Aly glared at Kelly.
'Stop that. I'm glad that Kelly told me what happened and none of you did. I want to do this for the whole pack.'
Alpha Gab lowered her head down. 'I'm sorry.'
'Rylie... we don't want you to worry and blame yourself again.' Aly opened her mouth but then looked away as soon as the whole family of the border patrol passed them.
The whole family are carrying the coffin of the deceased.
Rylie and Kelly blended in the crowds and they walked side by side with Alpha Gab and Aly.
Mate....
I know... Rylie chastised her wolf.
Aly then caressed her fur and Rylie almost wants to lean in but she's still angry at the fact that Aly choose not to tell her because she would worry about the pack.
She needs to worry because she's part of it and there's nothing that will stop the snowball effect of what her father did but herself.
She leaned away and saw hurt crossed Aly's face. But she looked away and pretended that she didn't saw how Alpha Gab's eyebrows furrowed. She looked towards the coffin being carried out of the pack and into the cave where they lay the dead to rest. There was also statue for the wolf to be transferred into. The glow from the ritual is a transparent mist circling the statue. It was as if the statue was inhaling the smoke, drawing it in.
Rylie had her knuckles fisted tightly.
She closed her eyes tightly and uttered a prayer. May they be able to find peace.
